SANTA MARIA, CA – SEPTEMBER 7, 2010… This Saturday, September 11th, Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway will host the "Jim Turner Memorial" featuring the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series. The event will be the season finale for the Southwest Contractors 360 Clash mini-series and will also showcase the IMCA Stock Cars and Bud Light Mini-Stocks. The Spectator Gates will open at 5:30pm, Time Trials are scheduled for 6:30pm, with racing to follow.

Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway has held five races in the 2010 campaign. "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr., Justyne Hamblin, Bud Kaeding, Davey Pombo, and T.J. Smith have scored wins on the Hanford clay oval. With the season winding down for the USAC West Coast 360 Sprints, Saturday's event could play a key role in the championship chase.

Heading into Saturday's show, Fresno's Craig Stidham holds a one point advantage over Kerman's Davey Pombo in the 360 Clash standings. The same two drivers are locked in a tight battle for the series championship, with Pombo sitting 29 points behind Stidham.

Driving the #3S Brad Johnson Trucking / KRC Safety Maxim, Stidham has led the point standings since March 27th at Bakersfield. On August 28th at Santa Maria, the former California Rebel Cup Sprint Car champion was fourth quick in time trials, third in his heat race, and finished ninth in the feature. Craig leads all drivers on the circuit with four main event wins and would like to add the Jim Turner Memorial to his resume.

Piloting the #3 Junior Bowman / Buster & Ziggy Bullet, Pombo has two feature wins on the season. At Santa Maria on August 28th, the former Bandit Sprint Car champion was second quick in time trials, third in his heat race, and third in the main event. Davey will be looking for the 360 Clash victory and edge closer to the series championship.

Fresno's T.J. Smith is currently the hottest driver in the series. Sitting third in the point chase and fourth in the 360 Clash, the pilot of the #14 Steve LeGras / UHL Rubber Maxim has won three of the last four main events. The August 28th Santa Maria winner was third quick in time trials and second in his heat race. Smith won at Hanford on August 21st and will be working for the Turner Memorial victory.

Justyne Hamblin of Hanford is fourth in the series point standings and third in the 360 Clash. Driving the #8 JH Motorsports / Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino Speed Tech, Hamblin was sixth quick in time trials, third in her heat race, and fifth in the Santa Maria feature. The defending series champion made history at Hanford on June 5th by becoming the second female driver to win a USAC dirt sprint car main event. Justyne will look to make more history with a Turner Memorial feature win.

Tipton's "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr. is currently fifth in the series points and sixth in the 360 Clash. Piloting the #17V Louie De Groot & Sons Dairy / Borges Farms Maxim, Faria has finished second in the last four main events. At Santa Maria, Danny recorded his series leading sixth Sander Engineering Fast Time Award of the year and won the Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1. "Hollywood" won at Hanford on March 13th from sixteenth and wants to add Saturday's Turner Memorial to his win list.

Among the other top contenders expected to be in action are Bakersfield's Rusty Carlile, Clovis' Peter Murphy, Visalia's Jace and Richard VanderWeerd, Chris Ennis of Bakersfield, San Martin's Wes Gutierrez, Bakersfield's Ricky Kirkbride, Mariposa's Andy Ferris, 2006 SCRA champion Jonathan Logan of Hanford, and Visalia's Jesse Mack.

The USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series would like to thank Southwest Contractors, Hoosier Tire, Amsoil, BR Motorsports, Competition Suspension, Cory Kruseman's Sprint Car & Midget Driving School, Crow Enterprizes, DJ Safety, Extreme Mufflers, Hilborn Fuel Injection, Hinchman-Indy Racing Uniforms, Integra Shocks, Kaeding Performance, Keizer Wheels, King Racing Products, Kirkey Racing Fabrication, Port City Racing, Saferacer.com, Saldana Racing Products, and Sander Engineering for their support.

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (September 7, 2010) – Twelve different winners in twelve races is the story thus far in 2010 for the American Sprint Car Series Lone Star Region.

Which begs the question; will one of those 12 become the first repeat ASCS Lone Star winner of 2010 when the series takes to the ultra-fast high banks of Kilgore’s Lone Star Speedway on Saturday night? Or, will somebody else throw their hat into the mix to become winner number 13 in the series 13th event of the year, Lone Star Speedway’s Patriot Day Tribute.

With the season winding down, 22-year-old Eric Baldaccini of Keller, TX, nearly has his first series championship in grasp. A June 11 winner at Boyd Raceway, Baldaccini has posted five top-fives and nine top-tens to open up a 90-point lead over Claud Estes in the title chase.

While Godley’s Estes enters Saturday’s action ranked second, Flower Mound’s Justin Melton, Lubbock’s Preston Peebles II and Mesquite’s Martin Edwards round out the current top five in ASCS Lone Star points.

The balance of the current top ten includes John Ricketts (Burleson), Brandon Corn (Gause), Brian McClelland (Tulsa, OK), Kolt Walker (Graham) and Scott Reneau (Trinidad).

While Baldaccini posted his series win in June, Estes and Melton both earned Lone Star Region wins in Shootout action versus the Sooner Region in July. Other ASCS Lone Star winners thus far in 2010 include Kolt Walker, Brian McClelland, Ray Allen Kulhanek, Sean McClelland, Kenneth Walker, Jason Johnson, Gary Wright, Wayne Johnson and Matt Covington, who topped the series season opener at Lone Star Speedway in conjunction with the Lucas Oil ASCS National series.

Saturday’s racing action is set to go green at 7:30 p.m.

The high-banked, ½-mile Lone Star Speedway is located in Kilgore, TX, off I-20 Exit 583, then 0.5 mile north on SR 135, then one mile east on FM 1252, then 0.5 mile south. For more information, contact the track at 903-986-9731.

The ASCS Lone Star Region has completed a dozen nights of competition thus far in 2010 at eight different tracks.

Past ASCS Regional Feature Winners at Lone Star Speedway:
4/9/10 – Matt Covington (Lone Star with National)
5/24/09 – Brandon Berryman (Gulf South)

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (September 7, 2010) – A big weekend looms for the American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region with a first-time Missouri venue on Friday night leading into a pair of Nebraska events on Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend kicks off with a $1,500 to win event at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway on Friday night, moves on to McCool Junction’s Junction Motor Speedway for a $3,000 to win tilt on Saturday night and then concludes with Sunday night’s $5,000 to win Nebraska Cup at Eagle Raceway.

After narrowly missing out on the Northern Plains title over each of the past four years, Sioux Falls shoe Eric Lutz is closing in on his first series title entering the weekend with an advantage of more than 200 points over Waverly, Nebraska’s Doug Lovegrove in the ASCS Midwest points chase. Only the September 24 season final at I-80 Speedway remains after this weekend’s triple.

Springfield, Nebraska’s Jack Dover is third in points despite a limited Midwest slate of events and served notice Saturday night that he has put recent injuries behind him with a “tuneup” win at Eagle Raceway.

Two-time Northern Plains champion Lee Grosz of Harwood, ND, is currently fourth in Midwest points, with Brian Brown, winner of five Midwest features this season including this past weekend’s event at I-80, in fifth.

Friday’s card at Central Missouri Speedway marks the first Sprint Car event atop the Warrensburg dirt track since 2005 after a scheduled April 30 event fell victim to rain.
Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (September 7, 2010) - The ASCS Patriots have completed the full-point races for the 2010 season and now the teams are able to not worry about points and focus on challenging a slew of top competitors from around the Northeast, which starts this weekend.

The ASCS Patriots will be a sanctioning body for Black Rock’s Fall Sprint Nationals, taking place this Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11. With $5,000 going to Saturday’s 30-lap A-Main winner, this is New York State’s highest-paying race of this year.

The Patriots will co-sanction the two nights of action with the Ohio-based National Racing Alliance and Ohsweken’s Corr/Pak Sprints. The ASCS Sprints on Dirt will also support the Saturday portion. The Patriots will be running both nights for show-up points.

Each night will be run with very different formats. On Friday, each competitor will run two heat races which will set their spot for one of three “Triple Sweet 16” Features. The winner of each of these 16-lap events will be locked in to Saturday’s A-Main in a top-12 starting spot while all others will start over on Saturday.

The Saturday portion will see time trials, followed by heat races to send drivers to dashes, the B-Main or the C-Main. The 30-lap feature will conclude the active weekend.

The Fall Nationals was run at Black Rock from 1999-2006, with the 2007 running of the event being held in May. The return of this event has brought with it much fanfare, as a busy campground has always been a highlight of this event.

ASI Racewear has produced a special t-shirt to help commemorate this weekend. They will be on sale all weekend long at the track.

All of the Patriot regulars will be on hand, including Bryan Howland, the August winner, who will officially lock up his fourth series title and second A-Verdi King of Upstate New York by showing up this weekend.

More information on competitors that will be on hand in Dundee can be found in the ABC’s of Black Rock’s Fall Sprint Nationals.

Racing action at Black Rock will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and at 6:00 on Saturday. For more information, visit www.ASCSpatriotsprints.com or www.ASCSracing.com.

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (September 7, 2010) – The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region makes a much-anticipated return to the 3/10-mile, semi-banked Mid-America Speedway dirt oval in South Coffeyville, OK, this Saturday night.

Saturday’s event just one mile south of the Oklahoma-Kansas state line marks the first time for the powerful, fuel-injected Sprint Cars of the ASCS Sooner Region to sling the Mid-America clay since Gary Taylor tasted Sooner glory in May of 2008.

Leading the way into Saturday’s action is Tulsa’s Sean McClelland, who is closing in on a second ASCS Sooner Region championship after taking his first series title in 2005. McClelland holds a 65-point advantage over turnpike rival Joe Wood, Jr., of Oklahoma City, who earned the Sooner crown in 2009.

Sapulpa’s Kenneth Walker is currently third in ASCS Sooner points, with Oklahoma City’s Andy Shouse (fresh off an ASCS Gulf South win Sunday night in Lufkin, TX) and Broken Arrow’s Donnie Ray Crawford rounding out the current top five in points.

Two-time series champion Brian McClelland of Tulsa, younger brother to Sean, is just outside the top five in points in sixth.

With ten American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region events in the books thus far in 2010, there have been nine different winners with Jason Johnson the only driver able to repeat with two wins.

Sean McClelland posted a July 10 win at Lawton, Joe Wood, Jr., topped the season opener in April and Kenneth Walker claimed a Sooner vs. Lone Star Red River Shootout win at Devil’s Bowl in June with other 2010 winners including Nick Smith, Robert Sellers, Justin Melton, Claud Estes and Dustin Barks.

In ten previous ASCS Sooner Region events at Mid-America Speedway, Nick Smith is one of two drivers along with Garry Lee Maier to post a pair of wins. Brian McClelland picked off a 2007 win en route to the series championship.

Saturday’s action at Mid-America Speedway fires off at 8:00 p.m.

Mid-America Speedway is located one mile south of the Oklahoma-Kansas state line on US 169, then 0.7 miles west. For more information, contact the track at 918-829-8490.

The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region is slated for 14 nights of racing action at eight different tracks throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri in 2010.

Past ASCS Sooner Region Feature Winners at Lawton Speedway:
5/3/08 – Gary Taylor
10/6/07 – Brian Brown
10/5/07 – Brian McClelland
6/9/07 – Kevin Ramey
4/21/07 – Garry Lee Maier
4/20/07 – Garry Lee Maier
10/7/06 – Nick Smith
9/16/06 – Nick Smith
5/13/06 – Sam Hafertepe, Jr.
10/15/05 – Travis Rilat
