(Plymouth, IN) Tony Stewart may not be able to drive his sprint car at Plymouth Speedway during the inaugural Bob Newton Hoosier Tire Classic on Aug. 17, but NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kenny Wallace will be there wheeling his Modified car.
Wallace was saddened to hear that Stewart had to cancel his opportunity to race at Plymouth Speedway after sustaining a broken leg in a late crash in a sprint car race at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Monday night and commented that he will be there in Stewart’s honor.
Wallace stated that he is a big supporter of Hoosier Racing Tire and Bob Newton and will be driving his number 36 JEGS/UNOH Modified with the other UMP Modified drivers as part of the event. The Sprints on Dirt series will participate in a big race that night along with the USAC 600 Winged Sprints and the USAC 600 Restricted Winged Sprints.
More drivers from the NASCAR series MAY be headed to Plymouth Speedway for the Aug. 17 event so stay alert for updates. Gates will open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. ET. Visit www.plymouthspeedway.net for information about tickets.
Kenny Wallace was at the fastest dirt track in Northern Indiana in June along with NASCAR drivers Justin Allgaier, David Reutimann, Ken Schrader, and South Bend native David Stremme to drive in a Modified race.
We’ll have to see if Wallace can get past the speedway regulars in this special event.
The Bob Newton Hoosier Tire Classic sponsored by Engine Pro, Wings Etc. and Fel-Pro Performance Gaskets.
