Bobby Pierce, Shawn Deering, Abe Huls, Tony Dunker and Austin Bercerra all took home feature event wins Sunday night at Quincy Raceways during Kohl Cash and Carry Night at the Races.

Brandon Sheppard took the lead at the drop of the green flag and the race was on as Mark Burgtorf and Bobby Pierce kept up the pace with Sheppard. It was a three car battle with the three leaders being in close contact throughout the entire event. Burgtorf challenged Sheppard from the second spot until lap twenty two when Bobby Pierce powered by on the outside to set sail after Sheppard. Pierce who usually likes to use the bottom groove as much as he had jumped to the top of the track and worked the cushion to perfection to keep inching closer to Sheppard. The two young stars traded the lead from backstretch to front stretch several laps with Pierce taking the lead for good on the twenty eighth lap. Sheppard remounted the charge on the last circuit coming off turn four going to the checkered flag but Pierce was able to hold him off by .031 of a second at the finish line to take his second feature win in a row at Quincy. Burgtorf settled for the third spot followed by Denny Woodworth in fourth and Jason Perry in fifth. Pierce set the fast time of the night in qualifying with Dustin Griffin scoring the heat race win and Sheppard grabbing the Fast 6 Dash win.

It was not a good night to be the leader in the Miller Lite UMP Modified main event as twice the leaders of the event had problems. Steven DeLonjay set the fast time of the night in the division and won the Fast Six Dash to start the main event on the pole. DeLonjay jumped out to the early lead and powered away from the field in what looked like another win but when his steering broke on the fourteenth lap it brought the action to a sudden stop on the backstretch as Justin Reed and Jake Griffin were unable to clear DeLonjay as a violent crash ensued. No one was hurt but all three cars suffered major damage in the wreck. Dave Wietholder took over the lead spot on the restart with Shawn in tow. Wietholder held onto the top spot until getting loose in turn three on lap eighteen as Deering was unable to avoid contact as Wietholder spun in front of the field. Deering who had never won a Modified feature event in over one hundred and thirty starts took the lead on that restart and held back the challenges of Mike Vanderiet Jr. to break his winless streak. Vanderiet settled for second followed by Chris Spaulding in third, Keith Pratt in fourth and Adam Birck in fifth. Deering and Reed were the heat race winners.

Abe Huls scored his fifth feature win of the season in the IMCA Stock Car division over Brandon Savage in second, Terry Houston in third, Jerry Jansen in fourth and Brandon Lambert in fifth. Huls and Houston took the heat race wins.

Tony Dunker continued his dominance of the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods after taking the lead on the sixth lap when leader Jeff DeLonjay spun in turn two. Dunker then pulled away for the win followed by Tanner Klingele in second, Todd Reed in third, Joe Hooper in fourth and Taylor Lear in fifth. Hooper and Dunker were the heat race winners.

Austin Bercerra led every lap of the IMCA Sport Compact main event but had to hold of a pesky Laine VanZandt to take his fourth win of the season. VanZandt settled for second followed by Kim Abbott in third, Alex Baker in fourth and Brandon Lambert in fifth.

Coming up next at Quincy Raceways on Sunday August 25 will be Gem City Ford Night at the Races. This event will mark the return of the earlier start times as school has began again in the area.
