19th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 Set for this Weekend at Batesville

Lucas Oil Late Model SeriesWAYCROSS, GA (August 16, 2011) – The 19th Annual COMP Cams Topless will take place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, AR. The crown jewel event will pay $40,000 to win and $2,000 just to start the main event. It will be sanctioned for the fourth consecutive year by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

“We are very excited to be back at the Mooney Star promoted facility this weekend. It’s a privilege to have great companies like COMP Cams supporting dirt late model events and race fans are in for great weekend of racing. Everyone always enjoys seeing the cars without their roofs and watch the drivers wheel their machines around this fast race track”, stated Ritchie Lewis, series director.

Activities will get underway this Thursday Night, August 18th with an open practice session. On Friday Night, August 19th the LOLMDS take to the track for Red Buck Cigar Time Trials and Heat Races. On Saturday Night, August 20th will be the LOLMDS B-Mains followed by the COMP Cams Topless 100 main event.

Last year Jared Landers of Batesville, AR was the upset winner of the annual event as he took the lead late in the race to win his first Super Late Model Feature of his career. Landers, who leads this year’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Quarter Master “Rookie of the Year” chase is also sixth in the championship point’s standings.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN the 2009 COMP Cams Topless 100 winner is currently leading the LOLMDS points by 160 over two-time series champion and three-time Topless winner, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN. Owens will be gunning for his third crown jewel event win of 2011 as he has already won the DART Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in May and last weekend’s Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 at Florence Speedway.

Trailing Owens and Bloomquist in the points coming into Batesville is 2011 Eldora Dirt Late Model Dream Winner, Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY and four-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.

The tire rule for the 19th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 will be Hoosier Tires only with the following compounds legal; Crate 55, 1600, LM40 and WRS55.
