Evan Hubert and James McMillin became the twelfth and thirteenth different winners this year as the battle for the Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA championship soldiered on last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). Rain and wet grounds again foiled the races at Callaway Raceway and Scotland County Speedway, the seventeenth and eighteenth events to be canceled this season by a relentless pattern of wet weather. As previously announced, the association has extended the championship points-earning season through Sunday, October 2 at 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri.

At Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, last Saturday, “Cross Timbers, Missouri’s Evan Hubert found the hooked up racetrack to his liking as he charged from his 3rd starting position to capture the win, stopping Rylan Long’s winning streak at 4. Long did hold on for second at the finish with Browning, Missouri’s Tommy Cordray rebounding from last week’s engine troubles to finish in the third spot. J.D. Hubert finished in the fourth spot with El Dorado Springs, Missouri’s Larry Jones finishing in fifth. A strong field of 20 ULMA Late Models were on hand this past Saturday night as drivers prepare for the upcoming double points night this Saturday Night June 25th as well as the ULMA Triple Crown Shootout as part of Lucas Oil Speedway’s Thursday Night Thunder Event on Thursday, June 30th Presented by Nemo Quarry.” All speedway details may be found at www.lucasoilspeedway.com. The speedway opens its gates once again this Saturday, June 25 for weekly racing.

At CMS, the sky was lit up with lightning nearly the entire evening as 9 cars made their way to the speedway, but as always, with six of the overall association point chasers competing at the track, the competition was tough as ever despite the low turnout. Jason Bodenhamer and current overall point leader Brett Wood, battled early on in the feature event with Wood in the top spot until James McMillin drove into the lead. McMillin had his late model dialed in and walked away with his first-ever ULMA feature win. Wood worked his way back up into second; Bodenhamer came away third, non ULMA member Lane Ehlert was fourth. Bob Test came back with a good finish in fifth with Kevin Coyne sixth. CMS is just two weeks away from its annual $1,500-to-win track late model special event on Saturday, July 2. This race is open to all cars legal under the ULMA rules. Drivers that have raced twice in a weekly race program prior to the event will receive a $25 discount on their special-event entry fee, which is $50 or $75 for those drivers without two previous CMS 2011 starts, there is NO track registration for late models on July 2 at CMS. All details for the CMS special event race are at www.centralmissourispeedway.net. The track special is also part of the ULMA Triple Crown Shootout. Weekly racing again takes place this Saturday, June 25.

Friday night racing returns to Callaway Raceway June 24th, visit the raceway’s website at www.callawayraceways.com for complete information. Scotland County Speedway will again try to hold its Saturday night program on June 25th, check out their website at www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com for more info.

The annual Imhoff Construction ULMA “Triple Crown Shootout” kicks into high gear this Saturday, with the first-ever appearance at the beloved Double XX Speedway in California, Missouri. It has been several years since late models competed at the track and ULMA is honored to be the first late model entity to return to the track! The action gets underway on Sunday, June 26 at Double XX to kick off the 4-race series. After a few days off, racing resumes at Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday, June 30 for night two of the shootout. Night three continues at Callaway Raceway on Friday, July 1 and then continues at two locations on Saturday, July 2, where drivers will either compete at Central Missouri Speedway, which will be hosting its $1,500-to-win track special as part of the Triple Crown Shootout or Scotland County Speedway. Detailed entry forms and race information, track admission prices, start times, and track payouts during this shootout are now posted at www.ulmaracing.com.

Participating drivers will pay a $60 entry fee to enter the Imhoff Construction ULMA Triple Crown Shootout to compete for bonus money and contingency prizes. All races are double ULMA points-earning races! Drivers will keep their three best separately recorded finishes out of the races they compete in during the shootout, a separate points-earning scheme will determine the winner. The Triple Crown Shootout entry fee is separate from track pit passes, special event entry fees, and other registration fees. Central Missouri Speedway will not charge a registration fee on the July 2 date but there is a separate track entry fee for the track’s race that pays $1,500 to the winner as noted in the CMS paragraph above. There will be no entry fee at Double XX (other than pit passes) for ULMA members, non-members may compete by paying a $25 entry fee (plus pit pass). Drivers will compete for a separate payout and contingencies and trophies courtesy of Mr. G’s Liquor in California, Missouri, TCI Automotive, SafeRacer.com, and Rod End Supply certificates and RacingJunk.com shirts.
