Simon Pulls A Double Midway Win As Ballinger Takes Modified First Win

Lebanon MidwayDespite overcast skies racing action still continued Saturday Night at the Midway Speedway as 3 New Winners took wins in repected classes.

The Factory Stock feature would see yet another new winner as Mark Simon took the lead from Bob Gustin and held off point leader Brian Schutt’s run to keep the new winner’s streak alive.Gustin grabbed the opening lead from his front row spot with Simon and Brandon Waters following.Caution flew on lap 2 for Adriell Shepard bunching the field-up.On the restart it was Gustin,Simon,Waters and Tim Petty as Schutt last weeks winner was coming from row 5.On lap 4, Simon took the lead as Petty,Waters and Schutt were battling.Lap 5 saw Petty and Schutt spin while racing for 4th place.Gustin put on pressure to Simon as Schutt was moving forward while Waters and Ted Welschmeyer raced for position.On lap 10 Waters moved into second place as Gustin started to slow-up.Schutt would gain ground late but Simon takes the win with Schutt,Waters,Welschmeyer and Petty in the top 5.

The B-Modified feature saw Bill Schaar take the opening lead and held the top spot the opening 2 laps.Point leader Ted Ballinger grabe the lead on lap 3 with Schaar a solid second place.Caution waved on lap 8 as Brian Myers went around bunching the field-up.Ballinger looking for win number 1 this season would see Tony Moore move into second place with last weeks winner Cody Nivens following.Nevins moved into second on lap 10,but Ballinger wasn’t to be denied his first ever Midway win as Nivens,Moore,Schaar and Tim Ballinger in the top 5.

Even though he has won several times in the Street Stocks,Joe Francis driving his wife Stacye’s 35 car took his first Pure Stock win of the season adding his names to new winners.Bo Alexstates took the opening lead with justin Grindstaff in tow.On lap 2,Francis moved into second place and gave chase.On lap 9, Francis took the lead only to have Alexstates back in front on lap 10.The following lap Francis goes back to the lead and held off Alexstates fo the win as Jim Alexstates,Grindstaff and point leader Rob White following.Defending champion Matt Young had problems and only complete 1 lap before pulling in.

The Midwest Modified feature would see Sam Petty continue his winning ways.Travis Hill took the opening lead with Petty quickly moving into second place.Petty took over the lead from Hill on lap 7 and headed to the win as Hill stays close in the points battle with a runner-up finish.Mark Davis,Jamie Petty and rookieBilly Pearce completed the top 5 runners.

Another winning streak was up for grabs as the Street Stocks rolled out.Joe Francis took the opening lead only to see the caution wave for Kevin Forshey and Richard Adams.On the restart,point leader Mark Simon in the travelin Wagon grabbed the lead over Francis followed by Brandon Henderson
.Lady driver Karla Lampe was workng towards the front slowly and by lap 3,moved into third place.Simon would pull away and take another win as Francis,Lampe,a fast moving Forshey and Richard Adams.

Racing continues at Midway next Sat as a kids bike race will be held for kids 10 and under with gates opening at 5 and Racing at 7:30.
