Angell Park SpeedwayMILLSTADT, IL (Feb. 4, 2014) – 11 events have been scheduled for the 2014 season at the historic Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI.

Angell Park’s 2014 season will open with the POWRi and Badger co-sanctioned Thiel Memorial on May 25th and 26th. Fan-favorites on the schedule include the two-day Pepsi Nationals and Miller Lite Cornfest.

Fans will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of racing during the 2014 season. The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets, USAC National Midgets, Badger National Midgets, Badger Micros, and Illini Midgets will all return to Angell Park Speedway this year. As exciting additions to the Angell Park roster, the USAC Sprints and IRA Sprints are scheduled to race during the 2014 season as well.

“We are thrilled with the 2014 Angell Park Speedway schedule. A lot of preparation has gone into ensuring that 2014 will be a benchmark year for Angell Park,” POWRi’s Kenny Brown said. “POWRi has been working with Bob Koltes and his crew to make sure Angell Park is both a safe and competitive track. We moved the inside guardrail, first and foremost, as a safety precaution. We want to give cars an escape route when a caution or red comes out. And second, we want Angell Park to be a competitive track that can accommodate many different types of racing. Moving the guardrail allowed us to bring in the USAC Sprints and IRA Sprints this year. We can now give Angell Park fans the midget racing that they know and love along with new types of racing that they may not have experienced before.”

The first night of the Thiel Memorial will kick off the U.S. leg of the POWRi Lucas Oil Midget World Championship. The 16-round series began in New Zealand and continued in Australia in January. 2014 Chili Bowl champion Bryan Clauson, 2013 USAC National Midget champion Christopher Bell, and New Zealand driver Michael Pickens all won early rounds of the POWRi Lucas Oil Midget World Championship. Fans will see drivers from the United States, New Zealand, and Australia vying for the Midget World Champion title.

The Pepsi Nationals and Miller Lite Cornfest will also bring some of the best drivers in midget racing to Angell Park Speedway, as both events are co-sanctioned by POWRi, USAC, and Badger.

“The Pepsi Nationals and the Miller Lite Cornfest are highly anticipated events by both fans and drivers,” Brown said. “The caliber of drivers that run both of these events on a track like Angell Park Speedway creates a show that is hard to top. Between these two events, the Thiel Memorial, and the addition of sprint cars to the schedule, 2014 is going to be a very exciting year for Angell Park Speedway.”
