Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (Oct. 9, 2023) – Derek Hagar is looking to take another leap forward during the famed Flip Flop 50 this weekend at Riverside International Speedway.
The dirt oval in West Memphis, Ark., hosts the USCS Series event on Friday and Saturday. Hagar will compete in both the 360ci and 305ci winged sprint car divisions.
“It’s up there because it’s an exciting event,” he said. “Not just the sprint car atmosphere, the mini sprints, stock cars and modifieds as well. They have to open the spectator parking for pit parking. It’s going to be packed. It’s a big atmosphere to get a race car driver motivated to put on a show.”
Hagar has captured seven feature wins during the event, which inverts the feature winner of the first A Main to the back of the pack for the second main event. He charged from 24 th to sixth last year and from 22 nd to fourth in 2017 after winning the first feature. Hagar’s best outing was in 2021 when he was victorious during the first A Main from the 10 th starting position before he hustled from 22 nd to third in the second race.
Hagar enters this season with seven triumphs at the track, including a trio behind the wheel of the McCord Farms 305 sprint car.
“Mr. McCord puts together a hell of a car for me in the 305 deal,” he said. “As far as the 360 stuff goes, there will be a lot of new people coming in to mix it up so it’ll be a different challenge. I’m looking forward to it in both divisions.”
