Memphis, Tennessee (02/19/12) – Details have been back worked out for the COMP Cams Interstate Cup to return for its second season in 2012. I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) and Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) have teamed up to once again offer a bonus program for Sprint Car teams in the Mid-South area, and it’s again being tabbed as the COMP Cams Interstate Cup.
The COMP Cams Interstate Cup was created in 2011 to reward drivers for competing at both tracks. A.G. Rains claimed the initial title. For 2012 the tracks have once again coincided their schedules to not run Winged 360 c.i. Sprint Cars on the same night and to further their cooperation. Each weekly racing series point’s event at each track will count toward a driver’s point total in the program. A driver will be allowed to miss one event at each track and still be eligible for point’s money and prizes, but there will be no drop races. Points acquired in all races will count toward the final total.
The minimum payout for the final COMP Cams Interstate Cup will be the following: 1)$1,500 2)$800 3)$700 4)$600 5)$500 and as more sponsors are secured the payout may be increased.
COMP Cams has also posted the following contingency prizes for the top five:
1st – $1000 COMP Cams Gift Certificate PLUS Trophy Cup
2nd – $750 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
3rd – $500 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
4th – $250 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
5th – $125 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
In addition to money and contingencies, the program will reward provisionals. The driver, highest in the point’s program, who doesn’t qualify for the 5th Annual Ralph Henson Memorial on Saturday, September 29th at I-30 Speedway will get a provisional starting spot in the main event. Similarly the driver highest in points (who didn’t use a provisional at the Ralph Henson Memorial), who doesn’t qualify for the Fall Nationals at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday, October 6th will get a provisional starting spot for the main event.
Race fans can also donate money to the point’s fund if they so choose. For a $100 donation, a race fan can be the title sponsor on a Sprint Car Weekly Racing Series Event at either track, and 100% of that money will go into the point’s fund. The first event in the series will be on Saturday, March 17th at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas.
