(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, notched his fifth victory of the 2012 racing season on Saturday night, May 19 at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama! Ray laid down the quickest lap during the qualifying session, which earned him the rights to the pole position for the 30-lap, unsanctioned feature event. The driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag in the A-Main and paced the field from flag-to-flag to earn the commanding $2,000 triumph. Ray took the win over Brian Reese, T.J. Alford, Bo Shirley, and Kayne Hickman. Full results from GVS can be viewed online at www.greenvalleyspeedway.com.

“We had a tremendous racecar all night long,” stated Cook following the triumph over the weekend. “I was able to qualify on the pole and that got us off to a great start. Then in the feature, Brian (Reese) actually jumped us on the start, but I was able to get back by him on the first lap and eventually got the win. Things have been clicking pretty well over the past month or so and I am looking forward to racing at Smoky Mountain this upcoming weekend!”

Next up for the D&R Motorsports team will be a trip to the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee this Saturday evening, May 26. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will sanction a one-day, $4,000 to win program in two days time at the historic speedplant. Additional information on Ray’s lone scheduled event over the Memorial Day weekend can be accessed by clicking on www.ultimatesupers.com.
