NEFF, BARTOLI WIN AT GATEWAY

MADISON, Ill. – In the final results from the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Gateway Motorsports Park, Clint Neff and Fred Bartoli Sr. lead the list of winners on Sunday.

Joining the pair were Daryl Bureski, Michael Eggleston and Jarod Bowman in taking home NHRA national event trophies.

Neff scored his second national event win in Comp Eliminator when final round competitor Larry Pritchett fouled at the starting line while Bartoli grabbed his first win with a great .006 second reaction time. Bartoli won on the double breakout with a time of 9.798 at 134.46 mph.

Jarod Bowman and Dan Huellewig squared off in Super Gas as Huellewig took slight (.001 second) advantage at the start only to have Bowman take it back at the finish line for the win in the closest race of the day. Bowman went 9.909 to Huellewig’s 9.910.

Bureski picked up his third win and second of the year in Stock Eliminator, and Eggleston earned his first in Super Comp. Bureski defeated Bobby Bishop in his Olds 442 running 11.416 to Bishop’s 12.655 in his Ford Mustang. Bureski recently won the Inaugural NHRA Moser Sportsman Shootout at the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals. Eggleston went seven rounds for his win, beating Pat Fitzpatrick in the final.

Clint Neff, ’23-T Ford, 9.148, 99.07 def. Larry Pritchett, Pontiac Sunfire, foul.

Super Stock
Fred Bartoli Sr., Pontiac Firebird, 9.798, 134.46 def. Justin Jenkins, Chevy Cobalt, 9.534, 138.47.

Stock Eliminator
Daryl Bureski, Olds 442, 11.416, 103.20 def. Bobby Bishop, Ford Mustang, 12.655, 96.32.

Super Comp
Michael Eggleston, Dragster, 8.889, 175.87 def. Pat Fitzpatrick, Dragster, foul.

Super Gas
Jarod Bowman, Chevy Corvette, 9.909, 161.19 def. Dan Huellewig, ’32 Ford, 9.910, 144.74.
