Concord, N.C. (October 14, 2014) — Ken Schrader Racing, Inc., the Harrisburg Cruisers Car Club and the Bank of North Carolina are hosting the Dennis Peskir Memorial Car Show on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Schrader’s race shop located at 4403 Stough Road in Concord, North Carolina. Proceeds from the show will benefit The Wounded Warrior Project. The show is open to the public and begins at 8 a.m.

This year’s show features ARCA champion and racing entrepreneur Andy Hillenburg, who will serve as a celebrity judge for Saturday’s show. Hillenburg won the 1995 Daytona ARCA Race for the KSR team.

Hillenburg said, “The quality of collector cars in our area is second to none and I am happy to serve as a judge for the show. Hanging at Schrader’s while helping a charity – what a great way to spend a Saturday morning!”

Federated Auto Parts, Schrader’s longtime sponsor and Duragloss, an associate sponsor for his team, are providing products for all entrant’s goody bags and door prizes. JR Bishop, motorsports and event marketing director for Federated Auto Parts, and an avid car enthusiast will also serve as a celebrity judge.

“I’m excited to help the Schrader team and Harrisburg Cruisers support The Wounded Warrior Project,” said Bishop. “A car show is a natural for Federated and I am looking forward to judging cars from the region.”

Veteran engine builder Keith Dorton, owner of Automotive Specialists, will display his 1955 Ford Thunderbird, which he has owned since 1962. Dorton’s customized T-Bird, sports a red paint job, flames and a Ford overhead cam engine with a blower. Dorton, who will celebrate 50 years in business next spring and will participate in a Q & A session with show attendees.

Longtime motorsports journalist and author Deb Williams will be on hand to talk racing with Hillenburg and Dorton. Williams will sign copies of two of her latest books, Charlotte Motor Speedway History, From Granite to Gold and The Evolution of NASCAR, A Historical Collection. “Because of my dad’s service in the Army Air Corps and my appreciation for the military which protects us, they have always had a special place in my heart,” Williams said. “Everything I learned in my Army ROTC helped me become a better person. I am happy I can help Ken Schrader Racing raise funds for The Wounded Warrior Project.”

“We want to thank all the participants and sponsors for putting together this year’s event,” said Harrisburg Cruisers president Stan Cavaness. “This is our third car show at the Ken Schrader shop and we’re hoping for a great turnout!”

The Schrader shop will be open for tours and crew members will answer questions. KSR Crew Chief Donnie Richeson also will lead guided tours. At 9 a.m. there will be a demonstration in the body shop – from “bare metal to race ready”.

Registration deadline for the show is 10:30 a.m. on the day of the show and the awards ceremony, sponsored by Hughes Automotive and Streetside Classics will start at 12:30 p.m. Trophies for “Best of Show” and “Charity’s Choice” among others will be presented.
