St. Francois County Raceway (Farmington, MO), 5/18/2015 – Well, take that Mother Nature! She put up a good fight, but we WON!!!!!!!! As most of the area tracks had to cancel Friday and Saturday night due to rain, Brian and the crew at SFCR put in overtime and beat Mother Nature. It isn’t often that you can say you beat Mother Nature she pretty much rules the roost, so when a Race Promoter is able to get one in, it is a celebration.

All the rain made for a heavy track, heavy = traction. We interviewed, former Bigfoot 4X4 Driver, Shane Blair #1 BMod, who said a heavy track is so much easier to drive! When questioned about why, when the track is heavy, do we see more beating and banging and flips, he said, “Because you have so much traction you feel like Super Man!”

For the second race weekend in a row, Karl Francis in the #10A Pure Street had the class covered. This class saw that Super Man affect from the heavy track, lots of beating and banging when on. At one point we saw a car come up and over the berm in turns 3 and 4 and if you have never been on the track that would be about like cutting across the ditch in from of Hefner’s Furniture store, it was a little rougher than jumping the curb, OUCH! Karl’s win has social media in a buzz, race fans are calling him and car owner Dusty Homan out. One race fan posted “He has to be running illegal.” Car owner Dusty Homan responded on one of the Facebook posts that he would welcome a protest. We saw Ryan Williams #34 and Karl Francis #10A win their heat races and in the feature; Robert Hicks #32, David Baker #00, Mike Abney #32X and Robbie Williams #43X round out the top five. We will see what happens when we return to racing on Thursday, May 28th. Will Karl win his third feature in a row or will someone else knock him off the podium?

Dusty Homan wins in the BMod feature again this week. When you’re winning you’re making people mad. Grumbles are being heard, tempers starting to flair and it hasn’t even heated up yet. There is no lack of excitement and competition in the B Mod class. Just because this is a “budget” class doesn’t mean these folks aren’t just as competitive! Shane Blair led almost the entire feature until the end of the race when ol’ Super Man proved to be too much and shattered the transmission. Remember that heavy track and drivers having all the traction they need, well that comes at a price, it puts a lot of stress on things and Murphy is always there to show you the weakest link. Dusty Homan #10, Shane Blair #1 and Eddie Gross #4G won their heat races and for the feature; Chuck Adams #99, Eddie Gross #4G, Chris Boyd #97 and Randy Forster #r7 round out the top five.

Danny Resinger caught the AMod feature win this week. In the winner’s circle was a very excited and happy Resinger pounding the roof of his car as he got out and waving to the fans as Danny caught his first Feature win since 2005! Resigner, proud of his 14 year old car, his family, crew and sponsors, had a good win at SFCR!
Jeff Asher #777 won both his heat and dash races moving him to a tie for first place in points with Matt Eaton #53. Billy Smith also won his heat race but didn’t have enough Toyota horse power to get past Asher #777 in the feature. Fans got to inspect the chassis of Ben Gerdes modified as he rolled it over at the entrance to turn 3. In the feature we had Jeff Asher #777, Billy Smith #14, Dave Armstrong #34 and Matt Eaton #53 rounding out the top five.

410 Winged Sprint Cars were racing for $2000 to win this week and they were all in! The wind was really strong at the Bullring Saturday night and we had more than the tumbleweed, tumbling! We saw two sprint cars take wicked flips this weekend. Thankfully both drivers walked away, but they have a lot of work and damaged race cars. Korey Bales #5 was the first to take a tumble along the front stretch exiting turn 4. He rolled the car along the outside wall, landing on its side when the rear tire caught sending him down the track before Bales was able to get the massive power plant shut down. Joey Montgomery #12X, Tank Bridgeman #14T and Jeff Wurst #88 won their heat races, with Montgomery #12X packing his second checkered flag of the night in the Dash. The tumbling tumbleweeds didn’t stop in the heat races. At the start of the feature Bridgeman in the #14T looked like he was going to take home that $2000 win. But it didn’t last long for him. After leading for a few laps Bridgeman #14T found a little too much of that Super Man traction in the cushion and sent his car tumbling in turns 1 & 2. When Montgomery pulled into the winners circle to collect his $2000 pay check his left front suspension was broke, apparently a lap or two before the checkered, “Front Row Joe” tried to go three wide on the back stretch and didn’t quite fit, but it didn’t slow him down much as he brought home the win! Brad Loyet #05, Joe B Miller #7c and Joey Boyd #67 round out the top four in the Sprint feature.

Remember race fans another week off, enjoy the weekend with family and friends while we remember those who gave all while serving in our armed forces. We will be back to race, THURSDAY, MAY 28, 2015, for our National Sprint Car League show. Some of the fastest 410 Winged Sprint cars in the nation will be here to battle it out in the Bullring. Who will it be, someone local or a newcomer, who takes home the big W, come see for yourself!
