USMTS - United States Modified Touring SeriesLEWISTOWN, Ill. (May 14) – Saturday the 14th wasn’t any better than Friday the 13th as heavy rain over the past 24 hours with more to come has forced USMTS officials to pull the plug of all three events this weekend in Illinois.

Fans and drivers arrived at the Lincoln Speedway Friday night just in time for Mother Nature to wash out the opening night of a three-race weekend for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour powered by Swan Energy.

More rain and cold temperatures on Saturday with even more of the same promised for Sunday prompted officials to also cancel Saturday’s show at the Spoon River Speedway and the event for Sunday at the Quincy Raceways.

Up next for the USMTS Modifieds will be a return trip to the Outlaw Motor Speedway, located just south of Muskogee, Okla., on Thursday, May 19, for the first of three straight nights of racing action in the Day Motor Sports Southwest Region.

On Friday, the series makes its debut at the Brill’s Motor Speedway in Meeker, Okla., followed by a return to the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, on Saturday where the Day Motor Sports Southwest region champion will be crowned and the next batch of drivers will be qualified for this year’s Hunt for the USMTS National Championship.

The race originally slated for Sunday at the Enid Speedway in Enid, Okla., has canceled this week by the track promoter.
