Make Up Features Highlight Next Two Weeks of Racing at Highland

HIghland SpeedwayHighland IL (July 5, 2011) Racing Action returns to the Highland Speedway this coming Saturday July 9th with the Daum Crop Insurance Night. Kicking off the night will be three of the make up features from the June 25 rain out. The Becker Jewelers Late Models the UMP Sportsmen and the UMP factory stocks will run their makeup features this week, while the Steve Schmitt Modifieds, UMP Pro Late Models and the UMP Factory Stocks will race their features on July 16th, the Helvetia Sharp Shooters Fan Appreciation Night.

The Race for the Becker Jewelers Cup is at the half way point in the Becker Jewelers Super Late Models and UMP Becker Jewelers Late Models and Mike Schulte from Summerfield IL has a narrow 2 point lead (353) over 4 time Track Champion Chad Zobrist (351) racing out of Highland IL. Paul Bailey (322) from Pocahontas IL sits third, Dan Jacober (315) driving three different cars is 4th and Highland’s Randy “King Kong” Korte (290) sits 5th. “Fast” Frankie Martin (238), Mark Faust (233), Matt Weidner (201), Brian Wolfmeier (180), and Rick “The Salty Dog” Salter” (170) rounds out the top ten.

Dean Hoffman leads the way in the Steve Schmitt Modifieds with 400 points, Stve Lach from Brownstown IL follows in second with 340 points. The Racing Realtor Chad Sellers from Breese IL is in third with 333 points, Jeremy Thole is 4th with 313 points and Brett “The Kid” Korvis from Belleville IL rounds out the top five in the Steve Schmitt Modifieds.

The UMP Pro late Model leader board shows multi track Champion Mark Oller in first with 423 points and the Veteran driver from Livingston IL “the Italian Stallion” Bobby Martintoni is second with 337, Daniel Heck from Mt. Vernon IL is 3rd with 316 points, Nick “at Night” Lyons is 4th with 291 points and Travis Horner is 5th with 254 points.
Rob Lee is leading the UMP Sportsmen with 445 points, Jake Hewitt is on top in the UMP Factory Stocks with 423 points and Trevor Isaak is the front runner in the UMP Sport Compacts at 428 points.
