Jackson, Carroll, Muilenburg, and Hubert score wins on NWTF Night!

Lucas Oil SpeedwayWheatland, MO- (September 14th, 2014)- Unseasonably cool September weather greeted fans and competitors this past weekend but the action on the track was hot as Kris Jackson, Kenny Carroll, Stephen Muilenburg, and JD Hubert earned wins on NWTF “Race to Save the Hunt Night” this past Saturday, September 13th.

The Tri-Lakes RV USRA B-Mods rolled out first for their main event as Galen Hassler and David Hendrix led the field to the green flag. Hassler took command early and led a majority of the early portion of the race with fourth starting Stephen Muilenburg cutting into lead little by little. Muilenburg finally took command but now had a rear view mirror full of 2-time track champion Kris Jackson. Jackson ultimately took the lead in heavy lap traffic on the last lap and beat Muilenburg to the AAA Finish Line by less that two feet to score the win. Muilenburg settled for second while Nevada, Missouri’s Dustin Campbell charged from his 12th starting spot to finish in third. Andy Bryant debuted a new Phoenix Chassis finishing in fourth while pole sitter Galen Hassler slipped back to fifth at the finish.

Next up was the Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks as a stellar field of 21 of the best Factory Stocks around were on hand as they worked not only score the win but also to run valuable laps on the track in preparation for the Oct. 10th-11th $2,500 to win Factory Stock Shootout. As he has done so many times in 2014, David Hendrix crossed the finish line first ahead of Kenny Carroll for an apparent win but the results aren’t official until the post-race technical inspection is complete. Unfortunately, David’s #54 did fail post-race technical inspection as the car’s heads did not conform to the rules as specified. He was disqualified which awarded the official win to Camdenton’s Kenny Carroll. Chip Shaddox finished second in the revised official rundown with Shawn Whitman, Francisco Escamilla, and Marc Carter being scored in 3rd-5th respectively. Hendrix was credited with a 21st place finish.

The Pitts Homes USRA Modified main event appeared to be a Trevor Hunt runaway throughout the event as the 15-year old worked the top side of the speedway like a seasoned veteran. As the laps wound down however, the top slowed down and cagey veteran Stephen Muilenburg steadily used the bottom side of the racetrack to cut his way into Hunt’s lead finally overtaking him late in the race to score the win. Hunt was able to hold on to second as Jason Pursley rallied from his seventh starting spot to finish in third. Track points leader Jeff Cutshaw started fourth and finished fourth while Chase Domer charged from ninth to fifth at the finish.

As the ALPS Food Store ULMA main event rolled off last for their 25-lap, $1,000 to win main event multi-time winner in 2014 Larry Ferris led the field to the green flag with Justin Russel to his outside on what had now become an ultra slick and smooth racing surface. Ferris led throughout the race but a multi-car tangle oon the original start brought out the caution. As multiple cars were involved, the restart was deemed to be an original restart as all competitors restarted in their original spots. Ferris led throughout the event and went on to cross the finish line first for the apparent win with Brian Schutt and Jeremy Kelley in tow.

Once again, the scoring is not official until the cars clear post-race technical inspection. Ferris, Schutt, and Kelley all failed post-race technical inspection as all three had dual ignition systems hooked up and operational in the cars as determined by ULMA and Lucas Oil Speedway Officials while the ULMA rule book clearly states that only one ignition box is allowed. Based on the three post-race disqualifications, JD Hubert was awarded the win followed by Jon Binning. Payton Looney, Tommy Cordray, and Chris Cox.

Class Champions will be crowned in all four Budweiser Weekly Racing Series divisions next Saturday night, September 20th as KYOO Radio Presents the Bill Roberts Chevrolet-Buick Season Championship Night for the Lucas Oil Speedway Budweiser Weekly Racing Series plus, the American Cancer Society hosts the Hickory County Relay for Life Cancer Survivor Night.
