Gateway Motorsports ParkST. LOUIS, Mo. (May 14, 2015) – The Gateway to the West is the gateway to the best off-road racing in the country this weekend as, for the first time, TORC brings its high-flying action to the Dirtplex at Gateway Motorsports Park this weekend. Tickets for Saturday or Sunday’s races are $20 at the gate and $15 if purchased in advance online at torcseries.com/tickets

“We’re really excited to finally get the opportunity to bring TORC to the fans in St. Louis this weekend,” said series president BJ Birtwell. “There’s no other experience like it: every ticket is also a pit pass, and fans can get up close and personal with these 900-horsepower purpose-built race trucks that fly more than 200 feet through the air side-by-side at speeds over 100 mph.”

It is an exciting doubleheader weekend for TORC: The Off-Road Championship, presented by AMSOIL. Races take place Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Gates open at 12 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 3 p.m. both days. It is the first time that TORC has visited the St. Louis area.

“The city of St. Louis is pretty cool. Downtown is great and has a lot to offer, with the Cardinals and the Rams’ stadiums,” said Keegan Kincaid, a rookie in the PRO 2WD class this season. “I’m glad to see we’re in a new area with new fans and hopefully we get a good crowd this weekend.”

TORC brings the best truck racers in the world to the Gateway Motorsports Park Dirtplex to fight it out in 900 hp machines on a track built for action with whoops, big jumps and steeply banked turns.

Heading into this weekend’s race, veteran driver Scott Douglas leads the PRO 4WD standings. No doubt his challengers will be looking to even the score this weekend, following an action-packed race in Texas last month. The El Cajon, California, native finished third in the PRO 4WD points last season.

In the PRO Light class, Kyle Hart is seeking a repeat of his season-opening win. It was the maiden win for Hart, who is the son of former PRO Light champion Marty Hart. Meanwhile, two-time defending PRO 2 champion CJ Greaves, from Abrams, Wisconsin, is confident about his chances. He says the new course could help to keep him in the lead of the PRO 2WD standings.

“We’ve got a pretty good setup, so hopefully we’ll be a little bit ahead of the game coming in,” said Greaves. “There’s been a couple new tracks and you just have to figure out what the track is like and find the setup that works.”
