Macon & Cerro Gordo Speedways Presenting 2016 Kart SeriesĀ Battle In The Prairie Opener Scheduled For April 9th

Macon Speedway Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā The 2016-racing season will be a little bit busier for Central Illinois kart racers, as a new four race series has been announced.Ā  The 2016 Battle In The Prairie, sponsored by Laukaitis Racing, will feature three events at Macon (IL) Speedway and one at Cerro Gordo (IL) Speedway.Ā  The series is being run by former Track Enterprises employee Jason Woodhead and Cerro Gordo promoter Tommy Bennett.

The series schedule will begin at Macon Speedway on Saturday, April 9, then move to Cerro Gordo on Friday, July 1, followed by the final two races at Macon on Saturday, August 6 and Saturday, September 3.Ā  At Macon, pits will open at 11:00 with hotlaps at 1:00.Ā  The Cerro Gordo event will have pits opening at 12:00 and hotlaps at 6:00.

Divisions will consist of Cadets Red 250#(5-7yrs), JR 1 Green 250#(8-12 yrs), JR 3 Blue 300#(12-15 yrs), Clone Med 350#(15+), Clone Hvy 375#(15+), Clone Super Hvy 400#(15+), Clone 35 & Over 375#, 500cc Outlaw Cage Kart(15+), and 500cc RWYB classes(15+).Ā  The Outlaw Cage Karts will not run on August 6th due to a big race at another facility the same day.
