(MUSCATINE, IOWA) The Birkhofer Racing team was busy over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, as they traveled to the states of Missouri and Illinois for a pair of high-profile events. Brian Birkhofer’s best effort of the weekend came on Sunday, May 27 at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. Brian won his heat race in preliminary action and later finished fourth in the dash to earn the outside second row starting spot for the $10,000 to win ‘Budweiser 50.’ During the course of the 50-lapper, Brian hung around the front of the field before claiming a strong third place performance behind only winner Billy Moyer and runner-up Jimmy Mars.

Earlier in the weekend, the #15b team was in the pit area at the immaculate Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri for the 20th Annual ‘DART Show-Me 100.’ Brian timed in twenty-third quickest in his group during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying on Friday and later had problems in his heat race that led to a fourteenth place prelim finish. Unfortunately, the Muscatine, Iowa ace did not transfer through his B-Main on Saturday and therefore missed out on the $30,000 to win feature event. Full results from both Wheatland and Granite City can be viewed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

Brian and the Birkhofer Racing team have one race on their radar for the upcoming weekend, as they plan to travel to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday night, June 2. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over the 26th Annual ‘Ralph Latham Memorial’ at the 1/2-mile, Cincinnati-area facility and a $10,000 top prize will be on the line.
