East Moline, IL (September 23rd, 2012) – K&S Promotions hosted the season finale Sunday night at the Quad City Speedway headlined by the $1,000 to win Verplaetse Excavating UMP Modified 25 lap feature.

The night was kicked off with time trials for the Verplaetse Excavating UMP Modifieds. Peoria’s Erik Bruce would set fast time by getting around the ¼ mile bullring in 14.000 seconds. Donovan Lodge was second fastest with a 14.033 and third fastest was Austin Hewitt with a 14.402.

After winning his heat race Donovan Lodge found himself in the pole position of the feature with another heat race winner, Erik Bruce, to the outside of him. Lodge and Bruce would battle for nearly the entire 25 lap feature swapping the lead several times. A late caution setup a five lap dash for the win with more side by side racing between Lodge and Bruce. With three laps to go Bruce jumped the cushion in turn two allowing Lodge to pull away ever so slightly and take home the $1,000 check. After Bruce in second the remaining top 5 were Matt Werner, Shaune Lewis, and Nathan Balensiefen, who started 15th.

In the Orion Tire Repair IMCA Modifieds Leland Bushong and Matt Werner raced side by side for the first ten laps before Werner took control of the lead on lap 11. Werner wasted little time building a lead en route to the feature win. L. Bushong would take second with Oskaloosa’s Cayden Carter taking third, Greg Durbin fourth and Cedar Rapids’ Patrick Flannigan fifth.

The Extreme Auto Glass Street Stocks were also in action Sunday night. Joe Bonney rocketed from his outside front row starting spot to dominate the 15 lap feature and take the checkered flag. Chris Lawrence came from eighth to finish second followed by Roger Rickels, Dwayne Smith Jr., and Rob Nylin.

The final feature of the 2012 racing season was the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4-Cylinders. Joe Zrostlik charged from the sixth starting spot to take the feature by holding off multiple time feature winner, Aaron Hitt. Eric Stogdell took second followed by John Whalen, who started 12th, and Rob Nylin.

Everyone from K&S Promotions would like to thank all the fans, drivers, sponsors, staff, and anybody else that was involved in making the 2012 racing season success.
