STP World of Outlaws Sprint Car SeriesMorgan Cup Trophy event moved to July 20 at Williams Grove Speedway

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – May 18, 2013 – World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and Williams Grove Speedway officials were forced to cancel Saturday’s Morgan Cup event after late afternoon rain came through the area and drenched the track. Crews worked for several hours to try to prep the historic half-mile oval, but the conditions prevented it from being race-ready.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series returns to Williams Grove Speedway on July 19 and 20. The Morgan Cup, a traveling trophy that resides with either the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series or Williams Grove Speedway, will now be up for grabs on Saturday, July 20. In the event the A-main winner on July 20 is not a full-time Outlaw or member of the PA Posse, the winner will decide in victory lane which side will be awarded the trophy.

Friday night’s thriller won by Donny Schatz will mark the end of the spring event at Williams Grove, and the Friday purse will be adjusted upwards, which increases each position including first place from $8,000 to $10,000.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series is back in action Sunday at Orange Country Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y., where the drivers meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. followed by hot laps and racing. On Tuesday the series invades New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway for the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Classic.
