2014 dirtcar nationalsInside Line Promotions – GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2014) – In exactly one week Sammy Swindell and the Big Game Motorsports team embark upon another busy season of action across the country.

Swindell will kick off the 2014 campaign next Wednesday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., for the five-day, 43rd annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment. The first two nights feature action with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions and the final three days open the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series action-packed season.

Swindell has been strong at the track known as the world’s fastest half mile as he garnered the famed gator trophy in 2012 for putting together the best week of feature finishes. His Big Game Treestands team then recorded results of fourth, 12th and sixth, respectively, during last season’s rain-shortened week at Volusia Speedway Park.

“I think part of it is it’s one of the faster places we go to,” he said. “It’s all about keeping momentum up. I’ve always been good on those tracks more so than some of the others. You’ve got to pinpoint everything just right and be real smooth. I think I’ve got a slight advantage in that area.”

Although Swindell hasn’t raced a sprint car in a little more than two months – since he claimed his first career Porter Hire International Sprintcar Series title in New Zealand – he said it doesn’t take long to adjust to being back in the open-wheeled race cars battling inches from his competitors.

“How it affects you sitting in the car might be a bit different,” he said. “It’s not a real hard place to drive. You want to get all the speed you can. It’s fairly simple most of the time – the driving part. The biggest thing is you haven’t been in anything that fast in a while when you jump in and you’re going to one of the fastest places of the year.”

Swindell said the goal is simple for the Big Game Treestands team.

“Every night the goal is to get a little bit better,” he said. “We’re definitely trying to win every night. Sometimes the circumstances can make a big difference. The biggest thing is trying to be consistent and trying to capitalize on everything you can.

“It definitely helps to come out of there with a good week. You know that everything is working pretty well. If you can come out of there with a good result at least you know you’re firing on all eight (cylinders) and you’re able to fine tune for the next one.”
