MACON, Ill. – Crank ’em up. It’s time for Macon Speedway drivers to roll race cars onto their trailers and get up to speed with Test N Tune practice days on the fifth-mile oval. Macon Speedway opens for practice from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

After tinkering with their cars during the winter, drivers remain anxious to return to the high-banked track and see how those adjustments work. Action on the dirt will be hot, because the season opener is fast approaching.

General admission in the grandstands is free for the practice session Sunday and the final Test N Tune day on March 30 (noon to 4 p.m.). Pit admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under. The concession stand will be open. As the track continues to dry out, please check the Macon Speedway website (www.maconracing.com), Facebook (www.facebook.com/maconracing) and Twitter (@maconspeedway) for updates on track conditions and practice sessions.

Macon Speedway opens the season with the seventh annual Spring Fling on April 5. The UMP Champions Night and POWRi midgets and micros highlight the racing in the season opener. Champions from 13 area tracks have been invited to compete in UMP modifieds, UMP street stocks and UMP hornets for bragging rights. The popular POWRi midgets and outlaw micros also make the first of their six appearances at the speedway this season.

Macon Speedway’s schedule features NASCAR Night of Stars on May 26 and the second week of June, when NASCAR stars such as Macon Speedway co-owner Tony Stewart make an appearance to sign autographs and take to the dirt. The track also has two premier late model shows on the 2014 schedule. The St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are ready to race here for the first time on May 1. The UMP Summernational tour hits Macon Speedway for the Herald-Review 100 on July 10.

Macon Speedway is one of the Midwest’s most famous dirt racing facilities. Co-owned by Bob Sargent and NASCAR stars Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace and Stewart, the track is a fan favorite for the layout that creates plenty of wheel-to-wheel action.

Macon Speedway is located nine miles south of Decatur on U.S. 51, then 0.6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south to 205 N. Wiles. Macon Speedway hosts racing every Saturday night, plus many weeknight specials.
