Macon SpeedwayMACON, Ill. – The 34th running of the Herald-Review 100 Thursday at Macon Speedway serves as the crown jewel of the UMP Summer Nationals tour before the Miles Chevrolet Fireman’s Ball Saturday honors firefighters and their families while the racing program features the Sportsman Topless 40 and Big Ten Series Street Stocks. The gals from Starship Billiards also race during Bud Light Ladies Night, presented by Y103, as the legendary speedway brings several fan favorites together during one great night of fun on the legendary fifth-mile high-banked oval.

Shannon Babb, the Moweaqua Missile, goes after a record fifth win in the H-R 100 after taking the checkered flag last season. Kevin Weaver is also going for his fifth title. Defending Summer Nationals champ Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Brian Shirley of Chatham, Jason Feger of Bloomington and Ryan Unzicker of El Paso are also competing for the Summer Nationals championship. Tickets are $25 for the H-R 100 and are available on raceday.

On Saturday, firefighters and their families are admitted for half price with badge/ID, so that’s just $6 for general admission. Macon Speedway wants to recognize the brave men and women who keep us safe and help them enjoy a great night of racing.

The Sportsman Topless 40 is a 40-lapper with the Sportsman drivers competing with an open cockpit after removing the tops to the cars. The race is an annual highlight among Sportsman drivers and loyal Macon Speedway fans. Midwest Big Ten Series Street Stocks will also race in an event rescheduled from a rainout in June. The Big Ten is a 10-race series at four tracks, including the Larry’s Service Center Triple 25’s at Christian County Fair in Taylorville on July 24.

It’s also Bud Light Ladies Night presented by Y103, with the gals from Starship Billiards racing in hornets in an attempt to qualify for the Bud Light Ladies Night championship on Sept. 13. Jenny Cramer and Dana Damery from Rocco’s have already qualified for the championship. Woody’s (Aug. 9) and Pop’s Place (Aug. 30) are also competing for the chance to race for the Bud Light Ladies Night championship. Ladies also are admitted for half price during every Bud Light Ladies Night. Cool off with a party in the grandstands with race buckets filled with five Bud/Bud Lights plus the ice to chill it all for only $20.

Billingsley Towing Modifieds, Outlaw Hornets, Stock Hornets, B-Mods and Illinois Lightning Sprint Series are also racing. Gates open at 5 p.m. Saturday with racing at 7.
