tri-state-speedway     Haubstadt, IN – September 24, 2014.  Late models were scheduled to appear at Tri-State Speedway three times during this season.  Two of those shows would be for the powerful super late models.  Only one of those shows remain.  That race will be this Saturday night September 27th and feature the only appearance for the ALMS series.  The second annual “Class Track Fall Roundup” will also present the MSCS Sprints and the UMP Modifieds.  This program is designed to appeal to a broad range of dirt track fans.

The event scheduled for the 27th is also the next to last race on the Sunoco ALMS Late Model Western Region schedule which lists 19 events for this season.  The 16 tracks hosting series events are divided into two regions with the Haubstadt facility being located in the West.  Drivers following the series hail from Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana.  The two states that have produced the most title holders thus far are Michigan with 12 and Ohio with five.

The series will close out the season in October at Eldora Speedway.

So this next to last stop is very important with point money on the line in addition to purse money.  The top ten drivers will share in the season awards.  Illinois driver Bobby Pierce leads the ALMS West standings.  Other drivers in the top five include Ryan Unzicker, Kevin Weaver, Brandon Sheppard, and Jay Morris.  Kevin Weaver is the defending champion for the ALMS West region.  Brandon Thirlby leads the 2014 Eastern standings.

Recent feature winners at ALMS races include Matt Miller, Scott Bull, Brandon Sheppard, Hoosier Kent Robinson, and Mike Spatola.  Randy Korte won last year’s first ever ALMS 30 lap feature at Haubstadt.

Bobby Pierce was second with Tanner English finishing third.  Drivers competing were from five different states.  The winner will enjoy a

$2,000 payoff.

The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will also be racing.  The sprints will be running for $2,000 to win also.  Blake Fitzpatrick took the 25 lap feature during the sprint portion of the  Roundup in 2013.  Jon Stanbrough and Brady Short were second and third.

With this also being the next to last MSCS race every point earned is important towards earning the driving title, top rookie honors, or a top ten overall season finish.  Kyle Cummins continues to lead the points chase.  James Lyerla is currently the top rookie.  Rookie Aaron Farney sits on the bubble as he ranks tenth which is the last points paying position.

The UMP Modifieds will be adding their support to round out a widely varied show and provide some additional open wheel excitement.

NASCAR competitor Kenny Schrader will be in competition driving his number 9 Federated Auto Parts modified.

The pay-off for the feature has been increased courtesy of Ted Brown’s Quality Paint & Body.  The feature winner will receive $750.

Second and third place finishers will also see additional pay.

Levi Kissinger has a feature winning streak that now stands at three in a row.  He also put back to back wins together at the track in May.  Zach Fair is the only other driver to post multiple wins with two.

Racing begins at 7:30 on September 27th with opening ceremonies ten minutes prior!
