(Bill W) April 8, 2015 – Brad Loyet and the Loyet Motorsports/Vacuworx Global #o5 traveled to the St. Francois County Raceway near Farmington, Missouri last Saturday night.  It was the Sunset Hills, Missouri driver’s first trip to the unique oval, but at the end of the night, he was standing in Victory Lane.  Unfortunately, an honest mistake about not researching the right rear tire rule resulted in disqualification.  This weekend, the team plans on MOWA action in Jacksonville, Illinois and the National Sprint League opener at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.

The trip to SFCR wasn’t planned originally.  “We had plans of going out to Attica (Ohio) and racing with the All Stars, but Friday was canceled with the rain and cold and Saturday was iffy,” says Brad.  “That’s a long ways to go for one race.  We decided to head to Farmington.  We’ll be there with the NSL next month, so we figured we’d give it a shot.”

Things started well in unfamiliar territory.  “We were able to win the heat,” says Brad.  “That put us in the Dash, and we started second and ran third.  The car was just too radical almost.  We couldn’t keep it from pulling the front wheels.  It was almost too hooked up for what we needed.”

The team went to work on the #o5 and it paid off.  “We tried some things for the feature that we really haven’t before with the 410,” says Brad.  “Obviously, we wanted to win, but it was also a practice night for us too.  It was the night to try some things.  They worked.”

Starting third in the main event, Brad was in contention for the win the whole way.  “Around the halfway point, we were able to get by Joey Montgomery for the lead,” he says.  “The yellow came out, and we got put back behind him.  The track was pretty racy.  The line I was running was a little quicker than his.  He went into block mode, but we were able to sneak by him there finally in lapped traffic with two to go.”

Beating the veterans in Farmington is no easy task, but unfortunately, the celebration was short-lived.  “Unfortunately, we were disqualified,” says Brad.  “We had the wrong right tire on.  They have a medium tire rule for their weekly shows.  I thought they had a NSL or MOWA type rule.  I talked to some guys beforehand who said there were pretty much no rules there, but it was my fault.  I should have checked it beforehand.  Rules are rules.  In fact, the 15’s we had on were the only ones we mounted for that night.  We had a bunch of other options in the trailer that were legal, we just didn’t know the rule.”

Brad is excited about this weekend.  “We’re planning on Jacksonville Friday with MOWA and Burlington Saturday with the NSL,” he says.  “I’ve never raced at Burlington in either a midget or a sprint car.  It should be fun.”
