American Modified SeriesGlasgow, KY-February 13, 2011- The American Modified Series is pleased to announce its schedule of events and preview of the upcoming 2011 racing season as the tour, entering its sophomore season of sanctioning Open Wheel Modified dirt racing action, will operate once again under the rules and regulations of the UMP DirtCar Modified guidelines, allowing racers to not only earn points toward the American Modified Series championship, but also earn points toward the UMP DirtCar Modified national championship.

The open-wheel warriors of the American Modified Series will kick start the 2011 racing season on the first full weekend of May with a Friday May 6 visit to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for $1,500 to win, followed by the tour’s first-ever visit to Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on Saturday May 7, also for $1,500 to win.  The following weekend will see a lucky Friday May 13 visit to Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, with a drive south the following day to Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the 11th Annual Mod Squad Bash on Saturday May 14.  Both of those events will pay $1,500 to win.  The month of May will conclude with a Memorial Day weekend possible tripleheader of action at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH on Friday May 27, followed by a to be announced visit in Indiana, then concluding with a to be announced visit in Ohio, with all three events paying $1,500 to win.

The tour will have a pair of dates on the schedule for the month of June and at least one will be a track that will be new to the American Modified Series.  Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY has scheduled its first ever American Modified Series event on Saturday June 18, paying $1,500 to win the track’s 2nd Annual Open Wheel Modified Bash.  The month concludes with a to be announced in Kentucky on Saturday June 25, also paying $1,500 to win.

The series will have a pair of events on the docket as well in the month of July as the tour will make it second trip of the season to Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN on Friday July 8 for the $1,500 to win JB Salvage/Indiana Stoneworks Spectacular.    Another return trip concludes the month of July as Bluegrass Speedway will host its second event of the year, the 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble, on Saturday July 23, also paying $1,500 to win.

Action will return to the Hoosier state for the month of August as the fenderless fighters of the American Modified Series will visit Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN on Saturday August 13 for the $1,500 to win Monster Mod 40.  The following weekend, the tour will make their first-ever appearance at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN for a $1,500 to win event on Saturday August 20.

With the approach of September and the sunset of summer around the corner, the series will also begin to wind down its 2011 campaign.  Moler Raceway Park will host its second stop of the season on Friday September 16 for $1,500 to win, followed by a to be announced date in Ohio on Saturday September 17 for $1,500 to win.

The 2011 American Modified Series Finale will take place on Saturday October 1 and the teams of the AMS tour will make a return visit to Lawrenceburg Speedway, with that event concluding the 2011 and paying $1,500 to win.

As mentioned in an earlier release, Chad Yantz of Waynesburg, KY will serve as the new race director for the American Modified Series for 2011 race season.  Yantz has many years of experience in the dirt racing motorsports industry, having worked a crew member on his father’s race team, an official with the Battle of the Bluegrass Series, a co-promoter of Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY, and track official at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY.
