Tri-City Speedway kicks off 2011 season on Friday, May 13th!

Tri-City SpeedwayPontoon Beach, IL (May 11th, 2011) Tri-City Speedway kicks off the 2011 racing season this Friday, May 13th. The wet and cold weather coupled with other construction delays pushed back the planned opening from early April until this Friday.

Tri-City Speedway will have a full lineup of action this Friday featuring all five of their weekly divisions which are UMP DIRTcar Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Factory Stocks (TCS Street Stocks) and UMP DIRTcar Sport Compacts. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm and the grandstand gates will open at 5pm. The driver’s meeting will be at 6pm. Hotlaps will immediately follow the drivers meeting. Racing will begin at 7pm. General admission will be $12 with kids 12 years old and younger free in the grandstands. Pit admission will be $25 with kids 12 years and younger only $10.

Tri-City Speedway will host a Test & Tune session tonight (Wednesday, May 11th) in which drivers and race teams can get their cars dialed in. Pit admission for tonight will be $15. Fans can come and check out the improvements and watch the test & tune for free. The concessions will be open. Test & tune will go from 6pm – 9pm and gates will open at 5pm.

Fans and competitors will notice some dramatic changes and improvements to the facilities when they visit the track. The first thing they will notice is a huge new building that houses all new concessions and restrooms. Fans will also enter the grandstands from a different area now. The ticket booth is now just outside turn one of the track. All of the electrical lines have now been buried.

The Budweiser 50 will be the first special event at Tri-City Speedway for the 2011 season and will be on Sunday, May 29th. The Budweiser 50 will be a $10,000 to win UMP DIRTcar Late Model event. Also on the card for this event will be the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win and UMP Pro Late Models racing for $750 to win.

Tri-City Speedway is located just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, MO in Pontoon Beach, IL. Take exit 4 off I-270 and go 1/2 mile south on SR 203.
