Robby Warner and Jon Binning were the latest Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA Late Model drivers to make their way to victory lane after sanctioned competition last weekend. Out of 17 races contested so far this season, there have been 10 different winners, with ULMA members taking 15 of 17 sanctioned victories.

Robby Warner picked up his second-ever Crawdad’s ULMA win last weekend at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri. After a long lay-off from racing due to wet conditions, Callaway was able to hold their races for the first time since way back on Friday, May 6. It was Warner’s first appearance of the year at the track as he took the checkered flag ahead of 15 other competing drivers. There were 12 members present among 16 drivers present. Jake Griffin posted his strongest Callaway finish of the year by coming away with a strong third-place run behind non-member Brandon Imhoff in second. Trace Westling came away fourth ahead of Chris Cox in fifth and James Stafford in sixth. Darren Turner finished eighth while Justin Russell rounded out the top ten. Point’s leader Bob Test suffered a tough blow when his engine expired during the night’s preliminary action, which also carried over to him missing competition the next night as well. Friday racing resumes this weekend on June 10 when the track’s gates swing open for another night of action. Visit www.callawayraceways.com for complete information.

Saturday night at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) had its high and low points as just 11 cars made their way to the track. As always at CMS no matter the car count, ULMA drivers competing there put on a great display of driving and made the crowd feel as if there were a full-field of cars. All drivers present were ULMA members as the two heat race winners were Shawn Rayfield and Jon Binning. In the 20-lap main event, Binning used the low line to move to the lead with Rayfield staying with him on a higher line in second. The previous feature winner, Brett Wood, pulled off early in the race with engine problems, which ended his night. James McMillin then powered his way to the front to leave the field to clash for the second spot. Binning and Rayfield put on a classic duel for the second spot by racing cleanly lap-after-lap until Binning finally earned the runner-up position late in the race. Ultimately, McMillin appeared to hold on for the win at the checkered flag; however, after a post-race disqualification, McMillin relinquished the trophy to Jon Binning, who was credited with the ULMA feature win. Rayfield finished second with Kevin Coyne third. Jason Bodenhamer was unusually quiet with a fourth place finish and Trace Westling rallied again this week for another solid top five finish at CMS. The track will once again open its gates this Saturday; check out www.centralmissourispeedway.net for more info.

Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri was off last weekend but returns to action at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks this week with another exciting weekly program. For complete Saturday night race information visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com. Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri was unable to host its Saturday night race program last week due to wet conditions at the track. The track swings back into high gear this Saturday, visit www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com for complete news and track information.

Due to excessive rain outs experienced at ULMA tracks this season (14 of 31), ULMA formally announces the extension of the official points-earning season until Sunday, October 2 at 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri where the ULMA will headline the track’s first-ever Fall Nationals. The extended season will also include the following races: Saturday September 17th and Saturday September 24th as well as Friday September 30th at Scotland County Speedway; and also Saturday, October 1st at Central Missouri Speedway. If Callaway Raceway in Fulton decides to add events on September 16th and 23rd, they will also be counted toward the ULMA championship. At this time, race dates for the track in Fulton are pending per the track’s web site.

The annual “Triple Crown Shootout” is just a few weeks away as the excitement of competing at Double XX Speedway in California, Missouri, begins to be the talk of the upcoming series of special events. The action gets underway on Sunday, June 26 at Double XX to kick off the 5-race series. After a few days off, racing resumes at Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday, June 30 for night two of the shootout. Night three continues at Callaway Raceway on Friday, July 1 and then continues at two locations on Saturday, July 2 where drivers will either compete at Central Missouri Speedway or Scotland County Speedway. Participating drivers will pay an entry fee to enter the special event to compete for bonus money and contingency prizes. The Thursday Lucas Oil Speedway race is a track point race for the track, as is the Callaway Raceway and Scotland County Speedway races. Track points will not be awarded at Central Missouri Speedway as this event is part of the track’s annual track late model special race. All races are double ULMA point races! Drivers will keep their three best separately recorded finishes out of the races they compete in during the events. ULMA entry fees are separate from track pit passes, special event entry fees, and other registration fees. Central Missouri Speedway will not charge a registration fee on the July 2 date but there is a separate track entry fee for the track’s race that pays $1,500 to the winner. Drivers competing at CMS twice during a weekly program prior to this event will receive a discounted track entry fee for the CMS track special. Posted contingencies and prize money will be posted in an upcoming ULMA press release and on the website as well as through email to ULMA late model drivers past and present who receive the association’s email information.
