(Warrensburg, MO) – Once again this Saturday night, Central Missouri Speedway will delay track opening and start times by one hour. Saturday, August 6th is Heartland Waste Night at the races featuring weekly race action from modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks, and b-modifieds. Pit gates will open at 5:30, grandstands at 6, with the driver’s meeting getting underway at 7:30, hot laps at 8 and racing on the track shortly after hot laps.

Last week a mid-day thunderstorm rolled through the speedway grounds producing some much needed moisture on the track, which later helped to produce excellent racing for the fans and multiple grooves and a fast track for the drivers. Tim Karrick has gone to victory lane twice in the last three weeks and seems to have finally turned things around in his Skyrocket chassis #1k modified. The Steve Clancy win streak went to five last week in the ULMA late models as the Odessa driver continued his winning ways. Point leader Brian Ziegler claimed his fifth win of the year in street stock action while Ethan prevailed in b-modified action.

In the standings, Terry Schultz is king of the hill in modifieds and looks to be well in control of things on his way to his first-ever championship at CMS in this division. Jason Bodenhamer leads the ULMA late models; Ziegler has command of the street stocks while nine-time feature winner Jacob Ebert tops the b-modifieds.

In just two weeks the track will host its annual Kid’s Night at the Races, which takes place Saturday, August 13th. CMS is still taking donations for the kid’s goody bags, which will be given to every kid 12 years and under attending the races that night. Items we are seeking include small school supplies, race related small items, candy, and small toys to fit inside of the bags.

The annual Labor Day weekend of special events featuring a $1,500-to-win b-modified race and a $3,000-to-win modified race as well as the first-ever appearance of Grand National cars at the speedway is right around the corner. All information regarding the weekend as well as information for the 1st Annual Hog Roast Modified Nationals may be found at www.centralmissourispeedway.net on the website landing page.
