(Warrensburg, MO) – Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) drivers, fans, and staff will gather once again this weekend as it has for over 18 years in Warrensburg to share a night of family fun among those in attendance. The ‘mighty’ modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks, and b-modified drivers will compete for a visit to Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane as the drive for the coveted point championships continue.

One of the biggest events at the track each year is the Annual Kid’s Night at the Races, which is sponsored this year by the Missouri Army National Guard, who will be on hand with a climbing wall for kids to enjoy! Kids ages 12 and under will make their way down to the front stretch of the track during intermission to compete in foot races to compete for a winner’s medallion. Every child 12 and under will receive a goodie bag stuffed with various items including school supplies, driver autograph cards, business discount coupons, candy and other race-related trinkets. In addition, all children twelve years and under will receive a free hot dog and drink courtesy of track promoters Earl and Susan Walls. There is also a chance for kids in attendance to register to win bicycles during an intermission drawing. Any last-minute donations may be dropped off at the track on Saturday, August 13th from 10 a.m. to Noon on the backside of the speedway.

The drive for the division championships continue this week in all weekly divisions. The modified drivers are chasing Sedalia driver Terry Schultz, who leads this tough division of the top drivers from the Midwest. Eight different feature winners have visited victory lane including last weekend’s winner, Chad Lyle of Oak Grove with his second CMS feature win of the year. The ULMA late model division had another field of talented drivers last week, including current point leader, Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, who is also in second place on the overall ULMA point’s championship leader board. Last weekend, Bob King from Independence returned to CMS after an early season victory and claimed his second feature win of the year to break Steve Clancy‘s run of five consecutive wins at the track.

Street stock drivers are chasing Brian Ziegler of Bates City, who grabbed his sixth feature win last week to maintain his point lead over Kingsville driver, Michael Mullins. The drivers in the b-modified division are also attempting to claw their way up the standings with Oak Grove driver Jacob Ebert in the driver’s seat. Ethan Isaacs from Bonner Springs, Kansas took a step in the right direction last weekend with his third feature win of the year to maintain second place in the standings.

After several weeks of heat-delayed start times, CMS will revert to regular start times this weekend. Pit gates open at 4:30 with grandstand admission at 5, the driver’s meeting starts at 6:30 with hot laps at 7 and racing to follow.
