(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway will host the 7th annual Illinois State Street Stock Championship race during the annual Fan Appreciation Night. The nights UMP Street Stock race will include a $600 to win purse. Many local and Midwest Street Stocks are expected to be in attendance. Also on the racing card for this Saturday, September 3 will be the UMP Chevrolet Late Models, UMP Billingsley Towing Modified, Touchstone Energy Sportsman, Pro and Amateur Hornets. Saturday night will also be the Chevrolet Hall of Fame driver reunion event where Macon Speedway will pay tribute to all past drivers of Macon Speedway during intermission.
The Macon Speedway points races are heating up as we enter the final month of racing in 2011 at Macon Speedway. The UMP Late Model Champion title will be decided this Saturday night. The UMP Billingsley Towing Modified points race is still up in the air with Danny Smith in the lead with Jeremy Nichols close behind with only a few points between the two. The UMP Touchstone Energy Sportsman division is also a tight race with Nick Macklin on top with a 100 point lead over Taylorville’s own Scott Landers. The Street Stock drivers will hope to gain ground this weekend especially with the $600 purse on the line. Bobby Beiler leads the other field of drivers edging out Justin Hill with 4 races to go. The Amateur Hornet division is being lead by Jerad Matherly and the Hornet division finds Adam Webb on top driving his number 40 hornet. Macon Speedway continues its season into September with the Hornet World Championship races at Macon Speedway on Saturday, September 10. Then Macon Speedway will race on September 17 for the final race of the season for the High School Hornets. After the race on September 17 the school will be announced that had the most participation for the year and that school will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for a graduating senior next May. Macon Speedway will host the POWRi Midgets and Micros for the season finale on September 24.
