WAR - Non Wing Sprint SeriesCalifornia, MO(May 25th, 2012)- Making it two for two for Jack Hockett Racing this week with Wingless Auto Racing, Lanny Carpenter drove to victory Friday night at Double X Speedway.

Steven Cross and Carpenter led the field to the green with Carpenter beating Cross into turn one to take the lead. Fast qualifier Austin Alumbaugh was on the move as he came from the third row to second as action would be halted for Steven Cross, who stopped off of turn two with two laps in the books.

Once green, Carpenter had a smooth line on the bottom as Alumbaugh closed in, but was unable to make the pass as the laps dwindled. Alumbaugh took one last shot at Carpenter on the white flag lap, but came up about two car lengths short at the finish as Carpenter won a very special race for friends and family of Jesse Hockett, as it’s been nearly two years to the day that the racing world lost “The Rocket” in a tragic accident at home. The win for Carpenter came in an MRP Chassis with RMS power under the hood and sponsorship from Rod End Supply, Korte Transportation, and Lucas Oil.

Alumbaugh just missed his first ever non-winged win in the Rick Smith owned/Schaeffer’s Racing Oil/Schure Built Suspensions MRP with Engine Connection power under the hood. Jeff Wingate was third followed by Mitchell Moore and Frank Brown.

Brown was the winner of a toolbox courtesy of Waterloo Industries.

WAR will be back in action tomorrow night for the first time ever at LA Raceway in La Monte, MO.
