Lucas Oil Late Model SeriesSeaford, Delaware (05/30/12) – The 20th Annual DART Show Me 100 weekend definitely did not start the way that Austin Hubbard was hoping, but the end result was more than satisfying as the 20-year-old driver advanced twenty-five spots to a fourth place finish in the 100 lap finale.

The team made the trek to the state-of-the-art, Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) over the weekend for the 20th Annual DART Show Me 100 as fifty-five competitors registered for action. Hubbard would find himself behind the eight ball on Friday night after qualifying struggles left him starting twelfth on the grid for his heat race. He would advance to a sixth place finish in the heat race, which left him two spots short of a transfer to the feature. As a result he started fourth in a b-main on Saturday evening, but would slip out of a transfer spot. Hubbard would utilize a provisional to start 29th on the grid for the 100 lap, $30,000-to-win finale. Despite starting at the very back of the field, he would mount a great charge through the field as he advanced twenty-five spots on his way to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Jimmy Owens, John Blankenship, and Dennis Erb Jr.

“We actually had a good car all weekend, but it just didn’t show in our on-track results until the feature on Saturday night. I was pretty down about having to take a provisional, but it’s funny how advancing twenty-five spots will make you feel a little better. No doubt that attrition played a factor in our finish, but in a hundred laps part of the battle is conserving your equipment. I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish,” noted Hubbard.

Austin and the team have little time to enjoy their solid outing as they return to action at his home track, Delaware International Speedway (Delmar, Delaware) on Thursday evening in a $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws event. The team will then make the ten hour drive to Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) for a $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event on Friday night before concluding their weekend on Saturday evening at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) in another $10,000-to-win, LOLMDS event.
