Lucas Oil SpeedwayWestville, Oklahoma (5/30/12) – Jason Hughes turned a planned off weekend into a last minute test session in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified. The test session turned into a $900 payday and his sixth win of the season.

The last minute decision to enter an Open Wheel Modified event held in conjunction with the 20th Annual Show Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) turned into Jason’s sixth win of the season on Friday evening. After planning to not race any over the Memorial Day weekend, and to just enjoy the lake, Jason made the decision to get some laps in at Lucas Oil Speedway in preparation for an upcoming Casey’s USMTS event at the facility. A strong field of 51 Open Wheel Modifieds converged on the 3/8 mile oval in an event that posted a $900 winner’s check. Heat race action saw Jason bolt from the fourth starting spot to the lead in the opening lap of the heat. Once out front he drove away from the competition to claim the heat win and the second starting spot for the 20 lap feature alongside pole sitter, Jeff Cutshaw.

When the green flag flew on the feature Hughes took control of the lead and went on to lead all twenty laps en route to the win, which came over Cutshaw, Brian Williams, Steve Picou, and Terry Schultz. Full results are available at www.LucasOilSpeedway.com.

This weekend, June 1st-2nd, the team will invade Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) for the 6th Annual Doug Murphrey Memorial. With a $10,000-to-win/$500-to-start purse on the line, a talented field of competitors is expected to converge on the facility. Preliminary action will be held on Friday night, while b-mains and the finale will be contested on Saturday evening atop the racy, 1/4 mile oval.
