DIRTcar Summer Nationals(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) The Riggs Motorsports team has been a constant on the UMP Summer Nationals grind over the last month and last week was no different. Both Randy Korte and Jason Riggs entered all six races from July 2-7 in the states of Illinois and Indiana. One event was nixed by Mother Nature, as the $10,000 to win show at the Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois on Saturday evening was postponed by rain until August 25.

Randy advanced into all five feature events last week and racked up a trio of Top Ten finishes. His best effort was Sunday at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana when he ran second in his heat race prior to claiming a seventh place performance in the $5,000 to win main event. Jason transferred into a pair of “Hell Tour” feature events last week, as he wound up thirteenth on Thursday at the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois and fourteenth on Sunday at Haubstadt after taking the win in his heat race. You can read a detailed race-by-race recap by clicking on www.RiggsMotorsports.com.

Even though Randy currently sits fifth in the latest version of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals point standings, the team made the decision following Haubstadt to pull off the 31-race tour. Instead of yet another busy week, Randy only plans on entering a $5,000 to win Summer Nationals battle on Thursday, July 11 at the tiny Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois and a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tilt on Friday, July 12 at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. Jason, after two straight weeks on the road, will opt to take the upcoming weekend off altogether.
