Eldora SpeedwayQuincy, Illinois (06/23/15) – It’s hard to believe, but 16-year-old Jake Griffin and 18-year-old Bobby Pierce have raced each other hundreds of times on dirt tracks across America’s Heartland. On Wednesday, July 22nd these two young men will once again go into action on the dirt, but this time it will be on a much bigger stage- and as teammates.

The pair of talented young drivers will look to catch the eyes of the racing world, when they pilot a pair of MB Motorsports Chevy Silverado’s in the 1-800-Car-Cash Mud Summer Classic at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).

The event will mark Griffin’s third series start and he’s eager for the opportunity to challenge the NCWTS regulars at the famed dirt at Eldora Speedway.  “MB Motorsports has provided me with fantastic opportunities this year,” commented Griffin. “I feel like I’ve learned so much from racing with the team at Martinsville and Iowa. Now I’m ready to see what I can do in NASCAR competition on dirt.”

Pierce, who was the 2014 DIRTCar National Late Model champion, has made a handful of pavement starts over the past few seasons. This event, however, will mark his first NCWTS start. And while he’s excited for the chance to make a splash in the series, he’s also trying to maintain realistic expectations.

“I’m really excited for the chance to make my first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Eldora because I’ve spent most of my career racing on dirt,” noted Pierce. “However, I also know that these are some of the best drivers in the world, and they can drive on just about anything. I’m expecting the track will probably be hard and slick, making it more like asphalt than dirt, so I realize that it’s going to be quite the challenge.”

The Oakwood, Illinois driver is straight and to the point on his goals for the event. “My biggest goal is to make laps, keep my truck straight, and see where we are at the end of the race. I can’t thank MB Motorsports enough for this great opportunity, and hopefully I can do them proud.”

Not only do Jake and Bobby look forward to being teammates at MB Motorsports, they also look forward to racing one another. “Bobby and I have raced together literally hundreds of times early in our career, so to be racing one of my good friends on such a big stage is really exciting,” Griffin said.

Pierce echoes Griffin’s thoughts by adding, “It’s going to be cool to have at least one familiar face on the track with me for my first NASCAR Truck race. Jake and I have been friends and competitors for most of our lives, so it makes sense that we race each other in this event as well.”

MB Motorsports is the sole surviving original team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Their history with the tour dates back to the inaugural season in 1995.
