UMP Modifieds Set To Run With USAC Sprints At Terre Haute Action Track
NASCAR’s Ken Schrader Scheduled To Compete
This coming Friday, September 18, the Terre Haute Action Track will be closing out its 2015-season with the Jim Hurtubise/Tony Hulman Classic. While the USAC Amsoil Sprint Cars will be headlining the show, a number of fans will be excited to watch the UMP Modifieds fly around the half-mile.
So far this season, the Modifieds have competed in three different events in Vigo County. Retired NASCAR driver and dirt track hotshoe, Kenny Wallace, raced to the checkered flag with Brian Shaw, Paul Miles, David Shain and Scott Martin completing the top five.
On Sunday, June 7, Bloomington, IN driver Bradley Sterrett raced to the win in the Summit Nationals Modified event with Tyler Nicely, Josh Harris, Schrader, and Dave Baldwin in the top five.
The Mods most recent appearance occured on Thursday, July 2 as part of the Sumar Classic for the USAC Silver Crown cars. Brian Shaw took the top prize as David Shain, Richie Lex, Rob Starkey, and Dave Baldwin were top five finishers.
This Friday’s event could see a fourth different winner in as many tries and Shain or Schrader would be two of the favorites to do that, having strong runs earlier this year.
Pit gates open on September 18 at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, hotlaps start at 6:00, qualifying at 7:00, and racing is set to go green at 7:30. General admission is $25 for adults, $15 for the infield, and free for kids 10 and under.
