Krup Claims UMP Modified Winternationals Opener At North Florida Speedway
Mount Carmel, Illinois racer Will Krup raced from the pole to win his first feature on the 2019 season during the opening round of the Winternationals at North Florida Speedway in Lake City, Florida.
Krup paced the field to the green and withstood three early cautions over the first pair of circuits and then held off a furious charge from Curt Myers over the late stages of the event to secure the $1,000 victory.
Krup lead the field back to green after a lap 19 caution and Myers took a shot at the lead, only to have third place running Kyle Strickler slip by into the runner up spot on the final oval. Krup took the checkered with Strickler, Myers, Mavrick Varnadore and Tyler Nicely rounding out the top five finishes in the 25-lap main event that had to be run on Saturday after it was rained out in Friday night.
Jason Garver won the Street Stock feature.
