(Warrensburg, Missouri) Championship racing returned to Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) on Saturday night for Comfort Inn Warrensburg Station race night. There were 75 cars on hand participating in the five classes on hand for competition.
 
A total of 20 B-Mods, 15 Super Stocks, 19 Show-Me Vintage Series Racers, 13 Midwest Mods, and 8 Pure Stocks took part in 13 preliminary heat races and five main events during the race program.
 
At the end of the night, Stephen Clancy in B-Mods, Aaron Poe in Super Stocks, Chad Eickleberry in Show-Me Vintage Series, Dustin Dennison in Midwest Mods, and Jonathan Evans in Pure Stocks, all found themselves in victory lane.

Ethan Isaacs and Stephen Clancy earned the front-row starting positions for the 20-lap main event for B-Mods. Isaacs was quick on the gas to grab the early lead but just as quickly as he grabbed the lead, Isaacs’ night came to an early end as he unexpectedly left the speedway to retire to the pits. This occurred shortly after Jeremy Lile’s night also ended on a hard note as his car struck a high-side utility tire. Despite the heavy hit, Lile was okay after the incident, but the car was heavily damaged. When racing resumed, Jake Richards assumed command as Clancy and Cody Brill had a close battle for second. A second yellow flag flew at lap six just as Austin Charles’ and Jacob Ebert’s nights ended early. At lap eight, it was Brill who worked his way to the front. Clancy hounded Brill for the top spot through lap 12, but when the leaders came to lap 13, Clancy had assumed command of the race. Late in the race, Clancy and Brill separated themselves from the rest of the field to settle the race. Meanwhile, eleventh-starting Terry Schultz worked his way to third. As the laps wound down, Clancy hit all his marks as needed and went on to claim victory, his nineteenth CMS win. Brill recorded his strongest CMS finish of the year in second with Schultz finishing third. Sturgis Streeter was fourth with Jack Richards completing the top five.

Aaron Poe and Blaine Ewing led the Super Stock field to the green flag for the 20-lap main event. Ewing led early, but ran into trouble early on, with Poe moving to the front by lap three. A lap five restart saw Poe leading Ewing, Jay Prevete and Jerett Evans in the top four. A third yellow flew on lap eight with Poe still showing the way through another restart by lap 11. James Nighswonger held strong inside the top three along with Prevete just past the halfway point behind Poe and Ewing. A final yellow flag slowed the field at lap 13, but after this, Poe went unchallenged and led the late stages to claim his thirty-second career CMS win and fourth victory this season. Ewing was strong in second with Nighswonger third, Prevete fifth, Tyler Perryman with his best-ever finish in fifth along with Jerett Evans with his strongest Super Stock finish to date, in sixth.

Bob Werkmeister of Omaha, Nebraska, and Beth Martin of Buckner, Missouri, were the row-one starters for the 20-lap Show Me Vintage Series main event. Werkmeister led early but Damon Clevenger eventually moved to the top of the lineup. Behind the leaders, Chad Eickleberry, and Tom Charles, both multiple-time CMS feature winners, battled close for the third position by lap ten. Past the halfway point, it looked like Clevenger was the driver to beat, but unfortunately an encounter with a slower car led to an on-track incident in turn three, which saw both Clevenger’s and Werkmeister’s bid for the victory end abruptly. Clevenger was disqualified from the event for exiting his car and not cooperating with the instructions from on-track officials, while Werkmeister restarted the race at the tale of the field on the restart. At lap 12, Eickleberry was the new leader with Charles giving chase. Charles pressured Eickleberry heavily through lap sixteen. As the two were on the back straightaway for the lead, Eickleberry chose the low lane around a lapped car, and it was this decision that eventually led to him claiming his twenty-fourth career CMS victory as Charles settled for second on this night. Eighth-starting Jim Thorne made his way to third as fifteenth-starting Larry Waters worked his way all the way to fourth. Dan Schmidt was fifth at the finish with eighteenth-starting Bryant Moyer, making his return to racing a success as he captured sixth in honor of his Father, who unfortunately had passed away earlier in the week.

David Wood and Dustin Dennison began the night’s 20-lap Midwest Mods feature from row one in search of victory with Dennison edging out front. Behind the lead duo, Dave Meyer, and his son Brian, ran close for third and fourth. Two yellow flags slowed the action early, but each time Dennison held on to the lead with Wood close in second. Dennison kept his machine out front through lap ten, but the Meyer’s encountered problems in turn three and four as their strong runs ended in a multi-car crash. Dave Meyer’s night came to an end with Brian Meyer falling to the back on the restart. Dennison led through lap 17, as Wood pulled to the low side to go for the win. Dennison was able to repel the relentless challenges of Wood and went on to capture his second victory as Wood settled for second. Johnny McGinnis recorded his best-ever CMS finish as he came away third, one spot in front of Ashlyn Piburn, who started tenth and eventually claimed fourth, for her best-ever finish. Twelfth-starting Arthur Nicholson was fifth at the finish with Brian Myer recovering to finish sixth.

Mallory Stiffler and Blaine Nolker began the night’s 15-lap main event for Pure Stocks from row one. Nolker shot out to an early race lead leaving Stiffler to battle Jonathan Evans for second. Nolker led through an early yellow flag over Darrin Christy, Stiffler, and Evans by lap five. On lap seven, Evans moved to the third spot behind Nolker and Stiffler as he looked to the front of the field. Just before lap 10, Stiffler was challenging for the lead, but slight contact between her and Nolker led to Stiffler slipping to fifth in the rundown. Over the final five laps, Evans was solid out front and went on to collect his second career victory at CMS.

Next weekend, the POWRi Super Stocks take the spotlight with a $2,500-to-win special event. Drivers will not earn track points but will earn POWRi national points. The entry fee and pit pass price for Super Stock drivers will be $75 total. All other weekly classes will be in competition for track and POWRi championship points. All pit passes are $40 for next weekend’s action.
