Brian Birkhofer Third at Granite City; Three More Summer Nationals Battles Ahead (Paducah, I-55, Lincoln)

DIRTcar Summer Nationals(MUSCATINE, IOWA) The Birkhofer Racing team returned to the UMP Summer Nationals scene over the June 22-23 weekend in a pair of $10,000 to win tilts in the Land of Lincoln. On Friday night at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Brian Birkhofer timed in second quickest in his group during qualifying, ran second in his heat race, and later moved up five spots in the 50-lap feature event. The Muscatine, Iowa ace was credited with a strong third place performance at the St. Louis area venue behind only winner Billy Moyer and runner-up Brian Shirley.

At the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, Brian once again finished second in heat race action prior to falling to fifteenth in the final rundown of the 50-lapper. Brian and his #15b team have three more UMP Summer Nationals battles earmarked for this upcoming weekend (June 29-July 1). On Friday night, the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky will play host to a $12,000 to win showdown, while the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri will take center stage on Saturday with a $10,000 to win program. The triple shot of “Hell Tour” action for the Birkhofer Racing team will then wrap up on Sunday with a trip to the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois for a $5,000 to win event.
