The 2012 Lucas Cattle Company ULMA race season is nearing the end with just three points-earning events remaining for drivers in search of 15 starts this season. Remaining races include:

Friday, Sept 7th – Callaway Raceway
Friday, Sept 14th – Callaway Raceway
Friday, Sept 21st – Valley Speedway (ULMA Points End)
Saturday, Oct 20th – Valley Speedway, Grain Valley (Non ULMA Points-earning event)

Drivers are required to have 15 starts to qualify for points-fund payouts and/or contingency awards. So far this year drivers have competed in 43 points-earning races at various tracks including Lucas Oil Speedway, Callaway Raceway, Valley Speedway, Missouri State Fair Speedway, Double XX Speedway, and LA Raceway (MLRA event).

Jason Russell currently leads the standings and the win column this season having accumulated 11 victories, placing him in a tie with the most single-season ULMA wins by an active ULMA member. Russell looks to be a clear lock for the title and will go for the single-season win record this Friday at Callaway Raceways. Should Russell claim the title, it will make an incredible six different ULMA champions in as many seasons!

Current standings:

POS CAR # NAME STARTS POINTS
1st 2J Jason Russell 31 1813
2nd 90 Joe Walkenhorst 21 1712
3rd 86 Brandon Imhoff 25 1693
4th 65 Jon Binning 19 1649
5th 22 Kevin Coyne 22 1643
6th 133 Chris Hawkins 18 1614
7th 7 Brett Wood 18 1595
8th 1 Bob Test 18 1577
9th 23Z Zeke Langley 24 1576
10th 0X Justin Russell 19 1551

The battle for the remaining top ten positions is fierce among several drivers that have chalked up victories this season including Joe Walkenhorst, Brandon Imhoff, Jon Binning and Kevin Coyne. After last weekend was wiped out by the tropical storm, the intense battle to secure additional starts and points now comes down to the three remaining races.
