NDRL - National Dirt Racing League(MUSCATINE, IOWA) The Birkhofer Racing team wrapped up their version of the 2013 racing season with the final two National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) Series events on October 11-12 at the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania. In the $10,000 to win weekend opener on Friday, Brian Birkhofer clicked off the third quickest lap in Group A during time trials prior to taking the win in heat race action. After starting from the inside of the third row in the 50-lapper, Brian unfortunately faded back to finish in the thirteenth position.

On Saturday at PPMS, a hefty $25,000 top prize was on the line in the 25th edition of the ‘Pittsburgher 100.’ Brian laid down the fifth fastest lap in Group A during the qualifying session and later grabbed the second transfer spot through his heat race. The Muscatine, Iowa ace then rolled off from the inside of the fifth row in the 100-lap extra-distance affair and eventually netted a solid eighth place performance. Following the top ten, Brian was credited with a fifth place finish in the inaugural NDRL point standings. Full results from the PPMS doubleheader can be viewed online at www.thendrl.com.

“It was definitely a mediocre season – I feel like – and I want to apologize to all of my fans for not performing up to the level that we have in years past,” stated Birkhofer, who reached victory lane twice in 2013, today via telephone. “I also want to thank all of my sponsors and product supporters for sticking with us and I promise we will work hard to have a bounce-back year in 2014.”

While the ’13 campaign may be complete for the yellow/black #15b, Brian has reached an agreement to drive one of Ray Moore’s MB Custom racecars on October 25-26 at the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi. The 19th Annual Coors Light ‘Fall Classic’ will take place at Whynot next weekend and a $15,000 payday is up for grabs in the Super Late Model division. Brian is a two-time winner of the ‘Fall Classic,’ as he took the checkers back in 2008 and 2010. Additional information can be obtained by logging onto www.whynotmotorsportspark.com.
