DIRTcar(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Brian Shirley, of Chatham, Illinois, enjoyed a tremendous weekend on April 11-12, as he scored a pair of Super Late Model victories in the Land of Lincoln! On Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Brian was the class of the field all night and swept the racing festivities at the St. Louis area facility. After winning his heat race and the dash, Brian also claimed the $1,200 winner’s check in the feature by besting Michael Kloos, Randy Korte, Scott Weber, and Billy Laycock!

On Saturday evening, the action shifted further north to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois for the 7th Annual ‘Don Bohlander Tribute.’ Brian won his heat race in preliminary action to earn the pole position for the UMP DIRTcar Series main event. The popular driver known as “Squirrel” then came out on top of the A-Main to pocket the $3,000 top prize over Jason Feger, Scott Schmitt, Billy Drake, and McKay Wenger!

Teammate Jason Riggs was also in action twice over the April 11-12 weekend and the Harrisburg, Illinois native racked up a pair of top ten efforts. On Friday night in Granite City, Jason ran third in his heat race and was up to fifth in the main event before a tight racecar caused him to fade to an eighth place finish in the regular weekly program.

At the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Saturday evening, a $5,000 payday was on the line in the ‘Spring Nationals,’ which was sanctioned by the American Late Model Series. Jason qualified fifteenth fastest during time trials, finished fourth in his heat race, and later picked off eight competitors during the 25-lap sprint to record a solid seventh place showing.
