Tri-State Speedway Haubstadt, IN – April 26, 2014 – Daron Clayton of Mooresville, IN, started on the pole for the feature race Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway and he would lead every lap to win the 30 lap “Spring Showdown.” Twenty-two machines started the main event. It was opening night at the speedway. The field was a representation of the best sprint car drivers from both the Midwest Sprint Car Series and United State Auto Club. But no-one could catch the Modern Day Cowboy. He was enjoying one of his finest rides around the high banks. Fans watched in amazement as he slipped in and out of traffic and lapped all but five cars.

Clayton was in the Rock Steady Racing Mach 1 owned by Hank Byram.

The car is sponsored by Pro Glide Coatings and Creative Finishing.

Clayton acknowledged the work and support of a great team. “We have 100% faith in each other. This feature showed what we are capable of – the first of many wins! With no cars ahead of me I was chasing an invisible rabbit.” The result of this hunt was a big $5,000 pay day!
And the victory was number eleven in MSCS competition.

Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, finished second in the Hoffman entry. Bacon was also the MSCS Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger for the race. He had the highest finish of three different drivers who had moved forward 9 spots. Bacon accomplished the feat despite getting held up in lapped traffic. The steady green flag had helped provide a torrid pace.

Defending MSCS Champion Jon Stanbrough was third. MSCS points leader Hunter Schuerenberg was fourth. Former MSCS Champion Brady Short was fifth. Justin Grant and Bryan Clauson led the second five across the finish line. C. J. Leary, Jarett Andretti, and Chase Stockon rounded out the top ten. Carson Short was eleventh and the race‘s Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award Winner. Carson flipped his car in hot laps but the crew was able to make all the necessary repairs.

MSCS Rookie Nick Hale had his car land on it’s side after contacting the wall in the second turn of the semi feature. Chase Stockon won that 12 lap event.
The four heat races to earn transfer spots went to Robert Ballou, Brady Short, Brady Bacon, and Jeff Bland Jr. Track conditions and the need to finish in the top four provided some exciting wheel to wheel racing. The fourth heat was red flagged when four cars stacked up in turn three. Wes McIntosh walked away from a car that was finished for the evening.

The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series is scheduled to return to action on Memorial Day weekend. The series will appear at Bloomington Speedway Friday night, Lincoln Park Speedway Saturday night, and top off the holiday by racing at Tri-Sate Speedway Sunday night. Friday’s event at Bloomington will be the Josh Burton Memorial Race.

Zach Fair took the victory in the 25 lap UMP Modified feature to close out the show. Mark Lamont won the three car duel for runner-up rights. He moved into second spot with just 6 laps left. Stephen Schnapf was third. Dustin Beck and Joel Jenson rounded out the top five.

The two heat races were won by Stan Beadles and Zach Fair. A couple of spins prevented Beadles from finishing the event. The modifieds will be on the card for the upcoming World of Outlaws visit to Tri-State Speedway on Saturday May 10th.
