Dennis-Erb-Jr(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) In a weekend in which Dennis Erb, Jr. was scheduled to head south to Georgia with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, inclement weather sent him on a much shorter jaunt to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday, October 3. The annual running of the ‘Illinois State Championship Hamilton Memorial 100’ was on tap in the Land of Lincoln and the UMP Super Late Model special drew a healthy 36 car field. Dennis started his evening by posting the fourth quickest lap in his group during the qualifying session.

Following a heat race triumph, Dennis started the 100-lap grind from the inside of the second row. The Carpentersville, Illinois hotshoe then worked his way past leader Ryan Unzicker in lapped traffic with 25 circuits remaining and held the point for the remainder of the distance to score his fifth triumph of the 2015 racing season. Dennis beat Unzicker, Billy Drake, Jason Feger, and Mike Spatola to the checkered flag to pocket the $5,000 winner’s check! Complete results from the ‘Illinois State Championship Hamilton Memorial 100’ can be viewed online at www.peoriaspeedway.com.

“We had a great racecar and it was nice to salvage a rainy weekend with a win at Peoria,” quoted Erb this week via telephone. “Our car was maneuverable in lapped traffic and I was able to get by (Ryan) Unzicker before the track turned more one-lane. We just paced ourselves early in the race and then turned up the wick when we needed to and got the job done. It is always nice to get a victory, but heading into some big late-season races – maybe we can get on a little roll to end the year!”

The Dennis Erb Racing team is now scheduled to take their equipment to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on October 9-10 for the ‘Magnolia State Cotton Pickin 100.’ Qualifying and heat races for the unsanctioned special will take place this Friday night at “The Mag,” while consolation events and the 100-lap headliner will thrill race fans on Saturday evening. A whopping $20,000 top prize has been established for the victor of the ‘Magnolia State Cotton Pickin 100’ and each feature starter will receive at least $1,200.
