POWRi National Midgets & Outlaw Micro Sprints kicks off 2011 season this Saturday at Du Quoin’s Southern Illinois Center!

POWRiPOWRi will open its 7th season of open wheel racing on Saturday March 26th for the 5th Annual “Dean King” Memorial to kick off the 2011 racing season for both the Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint Series at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, IL on the lightning fast “Mini Magic Mile.”

2010 Lucas Oil National Midget Champ, Brad Loyet will look to start the season off with a victory as he begins his title defense as well as 2009 Lucas Oil National Midget Champ Brad Kuhn. Loyet and Kuhn will have to hold off favorites such as Austin Brown, Nick Knepper, 2010 Badger Champ Mike Hess, and 2010 “Dean King Memorial” winner Casey Shuman. Shuman also won the “Battle at the Center” event in Duquoin in December.

Jeremy Camp of Blue Mound, IL won the Speedway Motors 600cc Micro Sprint Championship last year as well as last year’s “Dean King Memorial” event and will have heavy competition for the season opener including three time POWRi Micro Sprint Champ Derreck King. Joe B. Miller, Jacob Patton, Ryan Guyett, and 2010 POWRi runner up Andrew Felker.

General admission tickets are $15 each with kids 12 and under free.  Doors open at 2:00 PM, hot laps will begin at 4:00pm with racing following hot laps.
