Puts a Wrap on a Five Win ’23 CampaignBATESVILLE, Arkansas (10/24/23) – Billy Moyer Jr. and Henderson Motorsports battled through adversity over the weekend to officially clinch the $25,000 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Championship with their Henderson Motorsports No. 21 Mesilla Valley Transportation / Phillips CPA / Pontiac RV / Bilstein / Longhorn Race Car / Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.Entering the weekend Moyer Jr. held a 23-point advantage atop the series standings, but mechanical issues left the fate of the title going down to the last lap of the final night of racing, which was held on Saturday evening during the Spooky 50 finale at Louisiana’s Super Bee Speedway.“It was a roller coaster weekend for us for sure, but thankfully it all worked out. We had an ‘ok’ car on Friday night and finished eighth, which cost us a few championship points to (Kyle) Beard. Then on Saturday the night seemed to start perfectly. We were fast time, and then we were leading our heat race, when the rearend broke. It left us scrambling to get ready for the B-Main, and we came from the tail of that deal to finish fourth, which put us starting 19th in the feature. I was able to get to ninth by the end of the main event, and that allowed us to get the title by 2 points. It was definitely too close for comfort, but we got the job done,” Moyer Jr. said.“I think we are done racing for the season, and I just can’t say enough about the opportunity that Henderson Motorsports gave me this year. It took a lot of stress off me not having to get the car ready at the shop and the track. We were able to show up and focus on performing, and I thank the Henderson family and this whole team for that support. I also want to thank all our sponsors who made this possible. I couldn’t do this without them. We’re already planning for the 2024 season and will see everyone again soon.”To close out the season for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS), Billy Moyer Jr. and the Henderson Motorsports team invaded Super Bee Speedway (Chatham, La.) on Friday for the two-day Spooky 50.Drawing 27 Super Late Models for the 30th running of the annual event, Billy’s runner-up showing in his heat positioned him on the third row for Friday’s opener. Chasing a $5,000 payday, Moyer Jr. lost ground early before rallying in the second half of the 30-lapper to finish eighth. On Saturday, Moyer Jr. was an early exit from his heat race on the third circuit after claiming the Mark Martin Automotive Fast Qualifier award in time trials. Relegated into a B-Main, Billy stormed into the $10,000-to-win Spooky 50 finale with a 10th-to-4th run. Rolling off on the ninth row for the feature, Moyer Jr. advanced forward 10 spots in the 50-lap affair to register a ninth-place finish.Despite Kyle Beard finishing second in the final rundown, Billy edged Beard by a two-point margin to secure the CCSDS title. He earned a $25,000 payday for his second career championship with the series. Moyer Jr.’s first CCSDS title was claimed in 2009.Full results from the event are available at www.COMPDirt.com.The 2023 season has now drawn to a close for Billy Moyer Jr. He ends the year with five wins, 19 Top-5 finishes, and 31 Top-10 finishes in 46 starts.Billy Moyer Jr. would like to thank all of his sponsors including Phillips CPA Firm, Henderson Motorsports, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Pontiac RV, FK Rod Ends, Tye Twarog Racing, High Tech Special Effects, Clements Racing Engines, ROCKHARD Powder Coating, Keith Hammett Trucking, Dirtlatemodel.com Fragola Systems, Eibach Springs, Imperial Motors, Outerwears, XS Power Batteries, Sunoco Race Fuels, Bert Transmission, New Vision Graphics, FSR Racing Products, Midwest Sheet Metal, Bilstein, Longhorn Chassis, Gears Unlimited, Wiles Driveshafts, Performance Bodies, Hoosier Tire South by Pup, Pulse Innovations, Oakley Deatherage Opticians, Frankland Racing Products, Hooker Harness, Kluhsman Racing Components, Beyea Custom Headers, Strange Engineering, Bell Helmets, Accu-Force Shock Service, and MyRacePass.com Marketing Services. For more information on the team please visit www.BillyMoyerJr.com .
