Atlanta, GA – March 29, 2011 – The United Speed Contest Sanction (USCS) invades Columbus Speedway on Saturday, April 2nd for the 3rd Annual USCS Spring Xplosion. The event features a United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by Goodyear winged Outlaw sprint car, USCS Modified and USCS Winged Mini Sprint triple-header. The event is a literal “Smorgasbord of Speed” where race teams and race fans will be treated to a full menu of speed contests with racing in seven popular divisions at one of the Mid-South’s most popular venues. The action-packed night of high speed action also includes four of Columbus Speedway’s weekly racing divisions
The event includes the only 2011 season appearance of the USCS “Outlaw Thunder” Tour presented by Goodyear winged sprint cars at Columbus Speedway. The racing action features over 250 laps of racing around the famed and historic 3/8 mile clay oval including 150+ laps of Spring Xplosion Championship main events.
The Columbus Speedway regular season-opener turns up the tempo with the addition of the 700+ horsepower, 1300 pound Outlaw style sprint cars of the United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear . The sprint cars are the world’s fastest and most powerful short track cars and are expected to reach speeds exceeding 120 M.P.H. around the track known as the “Baddest Bullring in the South”. Top winged sprint car drivers from at least seven states are already pre-entered for the event.
The inaugural and second annual Spring Xplosion events were held at Magnolia Motor Speedway 15 miles to the West. Those races saw 30+ different USCS winged sprint cars from 10 states and over 40 different K&N filters USCS Modified Series cars from five states compete for their Championships.
The fans of the Commercial Dispatch Super Late Models can also settle in for a full nights action at the “Bullring”. Super Late Models will contest a full nights racing program with a minimum top prize of $1000 guaranteed.
The racing divisions featured during the nights’ action in this cavalcade of racing include the United Sprint Car Series winged sprint cars, the mighty K&N Filters USCS Modified Touring Series “Outlaw” Modifieds, the Commercial Dispatch Super Late Models, the new USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini-sprints, the cars of the Nesmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Weekly Racing Series, plus the popular Columbus Speedway Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions.
The 2011 Spring Xplosion Columbus Speedway event will be the first chance of the 2011 season for the racers in the Nesmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to earn points towards the weekly racing series Championship. A top field is expected in that division.
The “Baddest Bullring in the South” a.k.a. Columbus Speedway is located just East of Columbus, Mississippi. Travel seven miles east of Columbus on US Highway 82, then Exit North on the Stokes road exit and travel North for 1 ½ miles to Lacey Rd.
