MLRA(July 28, 2011) Buckner, MO –
In the 23 year history of the Lucas Oil MLRA, the series has never sanctioned a bigger race than the upcoming weekend. The Inaugural Silver Dollar Nationals takes place at I 80 Speedway this weekend. The 4/10 mile oval has been a mainstay for some of the top regional late model shows, but this weekend’s event is the biggest in Nebraska history.

The top regional drivers are set to duke it out for the $25,000 top prize with, $94,000 paid out in the late model purse. National standouts will be trying their hand as well. Billy Moyer, Brian Birkhofer, Jimmy Mars, Clint Smith, Dale McDowell, Don O’Neal, Austin Hubbard, Dan Schlieper, Wendell Wallace and Tim McCreadie are just a few expected to race.

A unique qualifying format will be used on Friday night. Competitors will draw for a starting position in two heat races. The second race will be an invert of the first. Here’s the catch, you won’t necessarily race against all of the same drivers in each heat. “It’s a format we adopted from go kart racing where they run two heats,” stated I-80 Promoter Ed Kosiski. “You race two nights at Knoxville to qualify for the final night, we thought it would be interesting to try this two heat race format.”

The heat races will also pay the top three finishers, courtesy of Malvern Bank. The Lucas Oil MLRA and I-80 Speedway would like to thank them along with Al Belt Custom Homes for their partnership.

The USMTS series will also be in action, as they host their final two events in the Great Plains Region. Complete shows will be contested each night, paying $2,000 each to the winner.
